I&rsquo;ve just bought a P20se and i'm wondering what peoples thoughts are on EDF jet kits to install it into
there are so many options out there I don&rsquo;t know where to start :(

the options ive been thinking so far are:

Eflight Habu32
Eflight F4
Jet teng hawk / t45
HET super sniper

so far from what I&rsquo;ve seen the Habu32 might be the better kit to look at (proven all over the net)
wanted to see what other peoples thoughts are before I spend the cash</p>

It also depends on your airfield. The planes you list will have about 0.5:1 thrust to weight ratio with the P20 and need a pretty good field to take off. If flying from grass I would look at a 90mm EDF foam kit.


PS, I actually orderd a super sniper but the kit was returned as it was't even close to what I dare to put my Kolibri T25 in. Junk in my mind.

The best I have seen flying so far is one you have not listed, the Vortex 32. It is very light, cheap , has a good wing area and takes off easily from grass. I personally think the Habu is too small.

I would have to agree the Vortex32 is a great plane, ive a friend with one with eflite retracts and tams and he flys from grass and has well over 100 flights on his ... he has had 3 Habus with in this time ... but never parts with his vortex .. but I guess some people just dont like that twin boom look ....

not too bad on the size with habu32,the simper build and qulity is one plus!
just that the landing got to becarefull compre with vortex32.

I just got one on hand good size wing loading ,but the qulity/out look not
every one cup of tea.i get it as I got a spare p20 do nothing! she going
to have eflite25-46 tam struts barkes also working on flaps and nav lights!

yeah! this is my everyday slow flyer!

There is plenty of video on Youtube of the Vortex flying with different small turbines including the P20. The key is to keep it as light as possible. The one I saw had fixed gear and was very light when I picked it up. Bendy wire legs have much to recommend them if flying off a grass field. Yes the retract area will need careful checking and some reinforcement.

I read here on the forums that the static thrust is lower with the turbine, hence struggeling with grass. But while in the air the performance are simular to the EDF as the dynamic thrust is higher with the turbine.

My favourite is the Toki Ducty but they are in very short supply and I'm not sure if you could get hold of them in Australia. I like mine so much that I have a spare kit at home in case I damage it.

I also have a Habu 32 and it is a good subject for conversion and flys quite nicely. I find it a little more stressful and not as 'fun' as the Ducty. I have a JT Hawk as well that I haven't built yet but it looks like it will be OK. It is quite a bit more expensive than the Hobbyking version and am not sure how much better it is.

The Vortex is probably very nice, but where can it be bought nowadays? I used to fly the Habu 32 with stock EDF setup, and was fairly satisfied... untill I put a P20sx in it. Wow, what a difference. I have even installed brakes, so this little sucker is the real deal, just like my Carf MIG-15, Eurosport, Elan and MB F86D.

AUW (full tank) is 3.7g, and 3.2kg at landing. All I can say is that that AUW is no problem at all. Takeoff run is similar to stock edf setup, topspeed...a different world. (I know... high performance edf 10-12s setups are as fast or faster, but no turbine sound or smell..).

The Habu32 is actually a very competent airframe, and as sai..... Habu32+p20 = perfect match:)

EDIT: most people have too high throws on their Habu32s, which will make it "nervous". I fly with the recommended low rates as my high rates, and about half that on low rates. 30% expo on ail/rud/elev.

I have a Ducty in the Box for my P20 ... I have built the Vortex32 for a friend and a couple of twin P20s .... Just recently I have installed a P20 into a Robbe BAE146 - that was fun ....

Anybody remember those old crates ? :D

Henke, its been available for a while, so much so that we sold all our production and the last kit will go out in a month or so.

We are talking to a big manufacturer about selling the moulds, plugs and all cnc files so they can be made again.

I´m flying the Multiplex Twister with the P20SE. It flies great!! All the vertical You´ll ever need...The airframe is about 100 euros and tolerates pretty much. Wet weight is around 1500 g. I reinforced it with some carbon and glass sheet here and there, but really an easy conversion.
