The ISOBAR is now official
Check out the new web site--- www.rpm-tech.com ---
I am so glad that they have done this. They have taken the Isobar to the next level. I am not taking anything away from Eddie because in my opinion he is the "GOD OF ALL CREATION" when it comes to this hobby, but his first few Isobars were a little rough, but they flew great. The new ones fly just a good and are now easier to build. I know because I have one and I am already contracted to build two more. |

I have one as well with a Jetcat P-120, smoke system......... This Jet is awesome!! Will be flying it this weekend at Greater SW Jet Rally. The new flap system allows this airplane to take off and land routinely in less than 300 feet with 27 pounds of thrust. I couldn't be happier.
Sean Ditto on the Eddie comments, but the modifications RPM has done, gear stance etc really makes this airplane shine. |
ISOBER PICS
The Isobar is a great flying plane. We have flown the hell out of Dougs, lots of fun. If you look at the photo gallery on RPM's website, the white with blue and red trim is Dougs airplane... The best looking one I have to say!!! You will notice the American flag on the vertical stab.. The reason it's on there is the Flying J Truck Stop on I-20 in Shreveport on the way to Mississippi last year was all out of the Chrome Naked Lady stickers!!! :D
See ya'll this weekend in Waco!!!! Danno!!! |

The very first foam Isobar was ~22 lbs with a Pegasus,
it could do %80 of a knife edge loop. Later came the red and white foam one witch was ~25 lbs Now the molded cop car is ~ 28 with a 5 lb Olympus. Building a plane light is the most difficult thing to do and over the years I learned its not the most important. I have seen some VERY HEAVY planes fly ok... can you say CAI... btw.. the megabar is comming along, but I got side tracked I will get back on it soon.. Eddie Weeks |
AIRCRAFT WEIGHT
Eddie,
I think the wings alone on Doug's Isobar are 28 pounds  .. But It flys like a trainer!!! Who over there is coming to Waco??? Bring Poke-Chop with you!!!! Danno |

I took that same original blue Isobar that Eddie gave me, added about a pound of epoxy, and it would do 90% of a knife-edge loop with a RAM 1000 (it just would not do it for a lot of engine runs ;-)

Then again, Jason Sommes (SP?) flew the ISOBAR at Lubbock a couple of weeks ago and showed us that we are clearly flying the airplane miles and miles and miles below it's potential. He had that thing doing rolling 360's around the pattern, and even rolling loops!! Damn, that guy can fly.
By the way, I snapped that airplane inside and out to the left and to the right at rougly 80 to 100 MPH. I thought I was near the limits of the airplane. I don't think I was even close. The manuevers looked so violent that I just decided to stop them afraid something would come loose inside. Just a really solid airplane. I was told it's rated for something like 14 G's. I doubt we have the power to get there. Sean |

Before Darren and I machined the wing plugins / spar
for the Isobar, we checked to see if it was going to be strong enough using SolidWorks and Cosmos... This is what the spar will look like if you do bend it at well over 14 g Eddie Weeks |

RE: The ISOBAR is now official
My ISOBAR logged over 35 flights this weekend and burned 27 gallons of Jet A. This airplane has it all as far as I'm concerned. I'm not that good a pilot, but this airplane can make anyone look good. For those that saw this airplane burn it down on Friday, it got a lot of compliments and was flown by many big names in the jet community. By the way, my airplane did not have a single mechanical failure in all those flights. Robart makes excellent gear!!

RE: The ISOBAR is now official
Sean and Ron let me fly both of their Isobars. Smooth flying airplane, very stable, plenty of room inside for equipment and fuel. Very nice plane. Wish you guys the best!
