RE: Looking for Tams Failsafe
Same here. I wonder why it is so hard to get?
It works very well and curious why Tam isn't carrying any stock? Maybe they aren't being made anymore..... Dan<br type="_moz" /> |
RE: Looking for Tams Failsafe
Any particluar reason why it must be Tam's and with casing?
Casing only takes more space. Dreamworks has the non-cased version. I recently purchased a 42% gear failsafe and Im happy with it. It comes with an LCD pressure display. That alone makes it worth awhile. Regards, David |
RE: Looking for Tams Failsafe
I've used Tams in the past and have been happy with. I prefer the finished look of unit in the case...

RE: Looking for Tams Failsafe
But first you need to get hold of a failsafe!! Dreamworks are out of stock and the failsafe is not currently listed on the Tamjets website.

RE: Looking for Tams Failsafe
Robarts retracts lists the the un-cased naked version, doesn't state stock status http://www.robart.com/products/landi...il-safe-system

RE: Looking for Tams Failsafe
Altecare RC lists them but don't know about in stock situation. They are a great company to deal with.

RE: Looking for Tams Failsafe
I think with the advent of electronic retracts, the failsafe may soon be a relic from the past. A good one but a relic none the less. I just sold mine as I won't be needing it anymore after experiencing how easy it is to go E.

RE: Looking for Tams Failsafe
What about if you have 9 gear doors, airbrakes and air operated wheel brakes?
Electric gear is here to stay but I don't have any issues with a properly installed air system. My Tam gear fail safe never worked[8D] Do you have a good source for e retracts and specially e actuators for doors? Regards Nuno |
RE: Looking for Tams Failsafe
Nuno,
Down and Locked for any retract conversion you can imagine. www.downandlocked.com Lado for Doors http://www.lado-tech.net/en/ And many more on the horizon. I think the failsafe was designed towards landing gear and not the rest of the equipment. Do you really want your brakes to employ full on if you lose too much air? No you wouldn't. I had no problems with the Tam failsafe as it worked fine but I'll never go back to depending on air to run my equipment. Yes yes a quality install should prevent leaks but not always. |
RE: Looking for Tams Failsafe
I recently had a gear up opportunity with my Kingcat due to a faulty air inlet valve that depleted my air system prior to gear pass. I had not yet installed a gear failsafe in the bird and was required to land in the field adjacent to our asphalt runway where it suffered some repairable damage. I'm not looking to change out to electric at this time and feel the Gear Failsafe is worth installing. I don't know exactly what happens if the failsafe fails, but figure the odds are greater that my problem would probably be air system related thus be beneficial.
I'm sure someone out there has one laying around that will not be used !!! Let me know... Thx in advance, Bill |

RE: Looking for Tams Failsafe
Hey guys while going through my spare hobby stuff I found not one but two of these units. They aren't doing me any good so if anyone needs one/two let me know. $70 + shipping a piece is fine with me.
