Large SM Hawk ?
Does anyone know how much fuel the main tank holds on the Skymaster large Hawk?
Thanks Joe |
RE: Large SM Hawk ?
I am also interested in knowing the capacity. I have a SM Hawk on order and looking forward to the build. Mine will have a Jet cat 180. What is your setup.

RE: Large SM Hawk ?
Good grief! A P180? I flew mine with a P120! I thought it was perfect power. I guess the left stick will only go left and right and not up much!
Wish I could help you guys out on volume of tank, but I sold mine. Loads of fuel for P120 though. Scott |
RE: Large SM Hawk ?
Interesting....not getting email notification on replies. Anyway, I guess I could fill it with water and measure it out. I thought I would try any easy way first.
I plan on using a 160SX. I believe it is 18oz per min at full throttle. I would like to have 140oz but there is no way this main tank is 140. I would guess its around 100oz, just by looking at it. I will add another tank, but I need to see what size I need. |
RE: Large SM Hawk ?
I have 6 flights on mine now. p140rx. I added a 10oz header tank between the UAT and main tank. I am flying 8 minutes with the gear up. If I put around at 1/2 throttle, I have half a tank of fuel at landing. I have flown 3 aggressive flights and I have about 2" of fuel in the main tank and a little air in my header. total flight time is 10 minutes per flight.
P140 is perfect power. |
RE: Large SM Hawk ?
I found in the manual where is stated the tank is 3L or about 100oz. I plan to add a 40oz tank. That should give me comfortable flight times on the 160sx.

Hi
The tank as bit less than 3 liters. I have just asked SM for a second tank. Since this plane is for a 120 to 160N turbine, 3 liters won't be enough. Would be nice to know what are you guys using as fuel supply. What second tank are you using? Yeah, I have an opneing canopy:D Regards Nuno |
RE: Large SM Hawk ?
I tought a 120sx were to weak for the large Hawk, glado to see the plane can fly with it. :)

Hello Megafly
Even with a P120, 3 liters is quite short... It would be nice to hear some feedback from Hawk owners. What second tank are you guys using? Regards Nuno |
RE: Large SM Hawk ?
In my CARF HAwk P120SX I made my tank and it came out at 4.8 litres, which I thought may be too much but has turned out to be perfect you get good flight times and still have plenty in reserve.
