Pulse jet engines?

Is there a place where one can buy pulse Jet engines for RC use? I know that there are a lot of places that you can get plans to build, but it would be nice if you could just buy them new.

If you are interested in pulsejets you have Z-Jet in Italy or Leubner in Germany.

You can kiss your flying site goodby.

Jet Bill sells the Bailey's design. Ask PulseJet Harry for details. And you do indeed need a Throttle servo: for shut-down.

guys hobbyking have got pulse jets for sale look out for big problems with customers buying these
motors that have no idea about safety issues involved with these sometimes dangerous motors
there are operators that have used these in rc that are more than competent but most I have seen
over the years have used them on control lines this could be a major safety issue world wide

Ditto KMRCJETS

I spotted them on HK the other day, there selling them at only £65! so within the reach of any idiot to buy but are likely to cost the rest of us all a good deal more in lost sites and bad press  Lets hope they simply don't work or at least end up on mantel places as collector's items and consign them to history were they belong.
This must be the most irresponsible thing HK could have marketed, what were they thinking !!

Introduced to the local park.

They couldn“t make a turbine (which they annouced two years ago...), so instead they made a super cheap pulsejet so that every flying site will end up with noice abatements, only allowing electric power systems......boosting HK sales:D

But seriously.... Hobbyking, pull this of the market for the good of mankind ;)

I have just ordered one. Any idea what would be a suitable airframe to put it in. I will use one of the orange receivers with it I think

WOW $99 or £65 That is just silly cheap. Now everybody can be a Pulse jet Tom Dick or Harry!

C'mon and feel the noise.

Imagine the carnage if they bundled it with a delta like this and made it ARTF.

Now I wonder where I could fly it?

Woketman 10-25-2013 11:23 AM

Pulse Jet Harry is on vacation at Disney world at the moment. I shall alert him!!!!

Scrubmonkey 10-25-2013 02:20 PM

i looked at them but couldnt find any information on safety, how to set them up in a plane etc so i havent and probably wont get one for a while atleast.

GlenR 10-25-2013 04:40 PM

Jet Bill sells the Bailey's design and I have one. Does anyone have a good fuel recipe for this engine?

I started it once on camp fuel. I was glad I had headset over ear plugs when it fired.

Altered1 10-25-2013 05:42 PM

I bet everyone was wary of turbines when they first became available for RC use too.

It's not profit ... you mean "prophet"

Also, there are lots of videos of people flying pulse jets on delta wing jets, as well as other types. One guy put a pulse jet on his .60 sized Long EZ. I found his video of it when it crashed too.

Woketman 10-25-2013 08:03 PM

Jet Bill's operation perished with Bill. He passed away late December 2012. Some guy in California bought his tooling and was reportedly going to make a stab at making the engines again. But I have heard nothing further. Pulse Jet Harry may have more info.

Fuel mix is 50% nitro and 50% alky

they can be run on colemans fuel and probably 95 plus octane gas.

in the 70's we mixed 50% nitro to 50% prope. This was for control line Jet Speed
there were other mixes as well. 4-1-1-1 4 parts EITHER Alky OR Nitro, the remainder 1-1-1 was nitro, benzine and prope.

The one that Hobbyking sells looks to be a clone of the Dyna Jet
