Dantley,

I'm sure the CARF Hawk would be a great flyer but the additional detail of the SM has swayed me in that direction !!!

Sounds like you are very happy with yours.

SM Hawk it is...

Here are some pics of my setup. I used the bvm upgrade boards and then made a removable smoke system right on top of the cg. I only have 6 flights on this hawk, but I can tell it is going to be great. straight KE and point rolls. Jetcat P140rx.

Thx for the Pic's. Glad to hear you are happy with the Hawk. I have been on the fence between the Carf and Skymaster. I have finally fallen off
with the Skymaster...

Thx again...

I put the 160SX in it. Just before I flew it for the first time, I was worried it wouldn't be enough, but I was wrong. This engine combo is fantastic with the Hawk. If you have some extra cash to throw at it, buy the 180RX. I wouldn't put anything bigger in it. I posted a pic of the elevator servo setup.

SM has some QC issues here and there, but I believe I have addressed them during my build. Overall, this is great flying plane. It was the smoothest maiden that I have ever done in the 20 years of flying. Luck or smart engineering, the plane seems to be perfectly designed for stable, smooth flying. You won't regret buying this one.

HI Joe,

Nice install! I have just ordered a Hawk and will be installing a Royal. I note with interest that you have used dissimilar Futaba receivers. I am a relatively new Futaba user.....no issues using dissimilar receivers with the Royal?

Regards,

Craig.

No problem with them.

You only have 7 redundant channels through the Royal so there is no point in getting two 14ch Rx, unless you just want it to look symmetric. Your remaining channels go directly from the Rx, so you would use one side or the other but not both.

If you fly alot of aerobatics I would recommend a header tank. With the shape of the main tank it is easy to get air in the system. BVM recommends the tall skinny sullivan tank. I used a tank I already had.

The BVM supplimental manual helped in the build.
