RE: Getting a hold of Skymaster?

well, the [email protected] has been working ..

I came to an agreement with SM on the problems I have had with my fuse thats not laid up correctly. Instead of shipping the fuselage for over $500 to get repaired , matched and then get shipped back, im just getting a 50% off discount on having a new fuselage ( and rudder to match the paint lining up .. ) just to get shipped.

Though i have had issues, Skymaster has always been willing to work them out. I know there are other options out there, but when done right, the SM stuff is hard to beat. The MB339 is a solid performer. With some minor carbon reinforcements , and some additional load blocks around the gear, its structurally tough as well :)

this was the maiden flight on my last one .

this was its last ( ran out of fuel because of not calculating for extra drag from 4 drop tanks :\ )

I can't wait to get #2 in the air !

Paying extra to have a problem resolved is not solving a problem. You ended up paying additional to make things right.
You paid full price for a half assed kit of poor quality, and then some to fix it.

I agree it is better than nothing, but you were still pretty much shafted by SM.

+1,

Yes, how does buying another fuselage ( that you shouldn't need) at 50% off make it right? Skymaster's undoubtably still making money on it at 50% off so, they're in a great position, you're getting the shaft.

Great deal for Skymaster!!! Why didn't Skymaster's USA dealers get involved, even if they didn't supply the kit? WIN/WIN for Skymaster...

Throwing more money at bad... hmmmm
Would you have paid the extra you laid out for the second fuse at the begining to get the plane right the first time?

Probably not... you might of thought twice about the initial purchase...

I'm not following this logic. This was not a case of you screwing up the fuse doing something so they are cutting you a deal to help you out with your issue, this is a case of the fuse was not right from the beginning. If you bought a brand new Corvette and the headlights turned on, but were very dim, would you pay GM 50% of the cost for replacement headlights on a brand new car? No, you would expect them to make it right, that includes labor, parts and whatever else would be an expense. That's all part of the PDI (or QC if you want). How does a fuselage get laid up, joined, supposedly inspected, but still not be cured? Ok, so I accept that stuff can and will happen, but why on earth should YOU, the customer who already paid for the kit in the first place, be expected to shell out money to fix THEIR mistake????? If NOTHING else they should have asked you to just cut out the section of fuse that is not cured to send them that (or at least send it to BVM to verifiy the issue), that might cost $30 or so for a sample. THEN, they should send you a NEW fuse at ZERO cost to you.
Accepting a new fuse for 50% off is silly. I'd sooner pack it all back up and say I'll ship it back to you once you refund me my 100% purchase price plus the shipping.

it does not make it more right, just "more less bad" lol .. I really want my plane flying and I'd rather skip the going back and forth, . Yea, i took a hit on it :\ , but i agreed on it. So yea, it's probably a good deal for SM .. . Over the years in the hobby, I have learned to just let some things go .. I don't know , some times that's a good thing, sometimes its not.

Knowing that a company does not have enough pride in their products to ensure that the customer willgetwhat is expected and paid for, I would be
afraid to deal with them.

RE: Getting a hold of Skymaster?

I sent an email to Skymaster last week and it was answered the next day. In that email , I was asked a question so I replied back. Haven't heard from them since. It sure would be nice if they were consistent. Does anybody know where I can obtain some gear doors for their older F-18 c model?
Steve
