Jetcat or kingtech
I am looking to get into turbine jets. Did the ducted fan stuff and edf stuff.
On turbines, what would you guys consider, jetcat 100 or the kingtech 100? I read on both, but not sure. Jetcat seems to have some here that can fix them where I think the kingtech does not. I heard that dream works might do the repairs on the kingtech. Correct me if all this is wrong. Thanks for the help |

RE: Jetcat or kingtech
Buy what ever the others at your club fly, that way advice is always available whether wanted or not LOL, also the one you can get serviced the easiest, forget the hype, make it easy for yourself, plenty of time to get adventurous later.

RE: Jetcat or kingtech
Kingtech USA has a full service center with a factory trained tech in Fontana Ca. Turnaround time is a about a week.
Barry and myself can be contacted just about any time for sales and support. K100 is a fantastic little engine and the throttle response is superb. 22lbs Thrust $2050.00 :D:D |

Kingtech does have service here in the States. Barry and Dirk at http://www.kingtechturbines.com are top notch if you should ever need service. Here are 2 videos The first is myF-86with a K-80 with about 18 hours on it since this video was made. The engine runs as strong today as when this video was made. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YYboFxBOAA The second is My F-15 with a K-140 in her. Again a terrific running engine. This engine has about 6 hours on it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEKASGZTPsE Kingtech is for real and here to stay. For the price you can not go wrong. Joe Lewis Kingtech K-80 and K-140 Owner |
RE: Jetcat or kingtech
You can run diesel with kingtechs. Prices are great and barry is a good guy to deal with.

RE: Jetcat or kingtech
26 flight so far on my k80 kero. Can't see why anyone would pay hundreds more for anything else honestly. As far as I know, jet cats don't have the lifetime warranty either do they?

RE: Jetcat or kingtech
I don't own either brand... but just reading over the boards... KingTech wins.
1) Cheaper 2) Faster Service turn-around (from 2 places in the USA) 3) Barry is on this board answering Q's. (Not sure if the JetCat guys are here) 4) Reliability is as good as any of the "Standard" brands. JetCat may be one of the old reliable brands, but it seems like they rely on that fact, (like Harley Davidson) because I see a lot of guys complaining about the price of service... and slow turn-around. Just my observations. |

I was very happy with my Kingtech. I owned a P80SE and a K80. Not the same thrust class but I had way better service from Kingtech than Jetcat. JC to me is old news. Overpriced for what you get.

RE: Jetcat or kingtech
Seems like everyone likes the kingtech. I just wanted to make sure the support and service is here in the US. And having someone on line answering questions all week is nice too. The price seems right too.
Thanks for the help, anything else to add keep the comments coming. All good information. Oh, I have looked at the wren, just seems everyone is pointing me towards the other two. |
RE: Jetcat or kingtech
I'm building a test stand for my K100. Should have it running in a couple of days. The quality looks very good to me. Keith

RE: Jetcat or kingtech
I was looking at both these engines for a build project but ended buying something with more thrust. Had I stayed in the 100 class I would lean towards Kingtech as they seem to be the one that really wants to provide customer service at a product price that's pretty good. If weight is really critical, I believe the P100 has a slight advantage but that's about where it ends. I have also been impressed with the operation of the Kingtechs I have personally seen run. The other thing I like is that both Jetcat and Kingtech seems to be continually improving their products. Competition is good. [8D]

Don't discount the JetMunt's either my 90 has been very reliable since being serviced by Sandor, who continued the guarantee even though I bought it second hand, he returned it to the UK from Spain within a week free of charge, did not even charge me for the postage.

Sandor? Are you sure about that Mark ;):D

ORIGINAL: rcand We fly both at my airfield and I have never seen a JC put our the thrust they advertise and Kingtech is pretty accurate. As you may know, a pipe will degrade thrust. |
RE: Jetcat or kingtech
I have a K80 and love it. The only real complaint I have is they are so quiet in my f-86D sometimes I think it flamed out. Wish it was LOUD. SOme of those old Ram 500 and Wren 54 make me jealous because of the loud noise.
The k80 is smooth and soft sounding. I wish it was so loud then when I did a low fly by it would cause people to plug their ears! |
