What refuelling pump setups do you use?
Hi guys,
I was just thinking about updating my fuelling pump setup for filling my jets. So please share your favourite pumps and fuel station setup's. If possible I would like to find something that I can run off a fair capacity lipo and attach to my current fuel container (usual plastic gasoline/ kerosene). Thanks for sharing your ideas. JanR |

If you want to use a Lipo, and use your can... then you can use what I made. There is a cap that fits Du-Bro fittings... and a pump/battery mounting plate. I have a sig gas-passer on it... but the pump Todd has, will also fit.

I use a submersible auto fuel pump. On the outside, I have a small box for 3-cell Lipo, reversing switch, fuel filter and bypass so fuel returned during defueling does not go through the filter. I plug a small low volt buzzer on the Lipo balance lead to alert when bat voltage drops.

I am also interested as I get started into jets. I have read that Evo jet makes a fueling station with a variable flow rate, or you can use lower voltages, some even fill at a high rate and switch to a low rate for the satellite tanks. So I gather that you can damage your tanks or introduce unwanted air into the system if you fill at too high a rate. The Evo jet is not available in the states right now, or I haven't found it. I would ideally like to start with a variable rate pump.

Check out the Jersey modeler fuel jug. I have two and they work great. I have also seen some people take the stock batteries out and just run a 2Cell lipo to the system.

That is just awesome! I will have to call my buddy Gotz... The only bummer is I gotta think whether to get the air compressor or not, I mean I just bought one recently for my Electra. But having that with the fuel station is just great.

I have a Jersey can and have problems with it. Four main issues:
1) Pumps too fast causing the tanks to swell and sometimes causes the stopper to loosen and leak. I had one tank split along the seam and leak. 2) The box hangs from the side and gets bumped constantly. The box on mine is shattered particularly around the mounting screws. 3) I don't like the charging adapter. It works OK, I just don't like it mostly because I don't know where I left it last. 4) Not fond of the two step switch either. I have to push it on and off several times to fill my plane without swelling the tanks too much. Same thing getting the fuel out. So I put together my own tank with the ability to adjust flow rate and not have a box hanging off the side of the tank bumping into everything or have an odd charging plug. It doesn't look as nice as a Jersey can, but for me it works just fine. It's very easy to switch batteries too. I can use a 3 cell LiPo or the 5 cell shown in the photos. Terry |

I use the Apple iFill system, Only one in the world as far as I know!!
Powered off a Li-Fe 6.6v 4500mah pack with emergency shut off switch, 2 way flow, lasts for months. |

Mine looks like the 'standard' model flight box.
21 AH of batteries in the base, 10 litres of fuel, charge sockets, pump & compressor in one unit. BUT.. it's heavy! - John. |

OMG, I had no idea that Apple had released the new iFill. Where is the touch screen?

Jersey Modeler, I took out the stock NIMH battery and installed one 2300 mah A123 battery
The Battery is usually good for the entire day and if its not it only takes 10 min to charge. |
RE: What refuelling pump setups do you use?
I have one similar to Dr. Honda's except I used an A123 two cell pack and the pump that Dreamorks sells. I really liked the Blitz USA manufactured kero and gas cans but they were put out of business by over 40 lawsuits brought on by greedy trial lawyers. Hundreds of people lost their jobs because the warnings on the fuel containers telling idiots not to pour fuel onto a burning fire were not enough. Sorry I'm off my soapbox now.
