Jets over the swamp
 

we at Okefenokee RC Club need help. ASyou know Mississippi has taken our date so we need input for dte we thought of last weekend in April or weekend after monthers day.Any input would be appreciated.

MS has not taken your date our event has always been the end of May for the last 13 or 14 years.

MS was traditionally the weekend after Mothers Day or the following. Usually around the third weekend in may. Last year they went to late May (actually into the June I believe). This seems like a good date. I hope they stay with that. JOS has been the first weekend in May for the past several years. Also a very good date. However, Frank has moved Top Gun. It now runs through the first weekend in May in 04. I mailed Allan about this several months ago, and suggested the weekend before (last weekend in April). That could create a conflict with Easter in some years.

The question for the organizers is, keep the traditional date and live with it, or move everytime something else moves. I like picking a date and sticking with it.

The Mississippi Afterburner was originally the last weekend in May, which was the weekend after Memorial day. After a time, the calendar rolled around where Memorial Day became the last weekend of May. We did not want to have our event on Memorial Day weekend, so we moved it up to the week before Mem. Day. Last year Mem. Day moved up a week, so we moved Miss. A/B back to the last weekend in May. In 2004 Mem. Day moves back to the last weekend, so we will have the event May 22-23. We won't have the last weekend again until 2008. Is this clear as mud or what! Any way you look at it, Miss. A/B has always been in the last half of May, not the first half.

I am sorry about the Mississippi thing i ment to say since Topgun moved its date & will run into 1st weekend in May which has been our date so i apoligize to MS.
