Hi All
I'm thinking about getting a Flyeaglejet F35a 1:7 anyone with experience with this jet ?
How are the flight characteristics ? On grass ground handing . And what power ?
Did you make modifications ?

I'm hoping on getting mine done by the summer. It is a stout airframe. Solid landing gear and nice size wheels. Should be great on grass fields.
I will go with a 35lb engine (Rhino or Kingtech). Lots of room inside to accomodate anything. I could easily stick 5 liters worth of smoke oil in there if I wanted to. its unlike anything I've seen, and the landing gear is completely out of the way.

Some mods I want to do after maiden:
-bond fuselage halves permanently to elimiante the seam line behind the cockpit
-split the nose gear door into two halves, to match the production version
-repaint with new IAF camo scheme or Vermont ANG markings, add panel details

ok, will do. I do not have the elevator servos installed, but do have the rudders and ailerons. Retracts are also in.

I flew mine with a P160 and it flew great. There are pictures on the FEJ web site.The plane really has no bad characteristics. I did put a gyro on the rudder, although I don't think it made that big a difference. Nice thing is, when you show up with yours, nobody else has one! They really fly good.

Hang in there at LMCO, I worked there a long time ago. I know you guys are sweating it, but you make a quality product.

BTW, the IAF scheme will be the same gray paint, only with diferent markings on the wings... I am also waiting for the prototype...

thats the only vid so far i didn,t take any when i had it but i am sure some camera,s were going just haven,t found any yet..i got other bigger Jets so this sat for awhile but it will be flying this summer and get many vid,s this time

So far I have seen two versions, and one of them is the gray one. Both are unpublished as far as I'm aware.

I think the final product will really depend on the final equipment configuration. Perhaps they could use a mixed batch of finishes. I actually sit next to one of the Israel leads, so I will very likely end up supporting that program as I did with the Soufa.

Landing gear, stout! Main gear doors were perfectly aligned. They do not rub each other during cycling, leaving you the option of either using conveniontal rigging, or the more scale gear down with fwd door closed.

this is where I think they really nailed it. The elevator aft pivot is flawless.

You can clearly notice the curvature along the flaperon contour.

Control linkeages. The kit came with wood servo mounts that you assemble yourself. I used CA to assemble and they came out very strong. The ailerons have a very accurate washout profile, like the real thing. They are not flat. Because of this geometry, they come with only two large robart pin type hinges installed. Adding a third one would probably preload all of them during travel, better to leave it as is. Linkeages are short, with good hardware. Control horns are carbon.

Some external shots. The inlet diverter was perfectly modeled. Painting the inlets white (which I will do) wil give it more realism. Gear doors have the "spiky" look, common to stealths. Nose gear door is single piece to match the pre production AA1 model. You can split it down the centerline to match the USAF production model.

to summarize, the real F35 carries a crap load of fuel internally, so it is not a surprise that the model has a LOT of realstate inside. I would bet you can fit the equipment of three large F-16's in there. No scale cockpit available, but with the availability of 3D printers nowadays....you could put a full tub cockpit with full body pilot in there easily. Model feels incredibly light for the size. This is the size of a 1/6 F-16, perhaps a bit larger. It seems like you can fit a P400 in the engine bay.

Just like the F-16, the F35 fuselage IS a lifting body, so I am expecting it to be an excellent flier, with a good performance envelope.

I'm confused, I thought there were two F35 models available, one from fly eagle and one from jetlegend.

I seem to remember the FEJ version was cartoon-scale.

Have they remoulded it, or was it another manufacturer who had produced the odd looking one?? Because the current FEJ version looks great!

Looks like it might be a good squardon mate for my F-22. The great stealth Air Force of SC! Do you think it would fly off grass ok?

Ziv, rudders are removable. Just don't know how accessible the retaining screw is. Elevators are not. You'd have to retrim the model every time you take themout.

Birdseed, you may be confusing it with a scratchbuilt model of an X35. There's major differences between an X and an F.
JetLegend has a glossy finish and no customer service. I'd avoid it.

Tom, Igrass should be fine. I think the final wing loading will be low. Nose wheel is a bit small, but I'm sure something could be done if necessary.

Thanks for the pictures of the rudder, elevators, and ailerons. Are you concerned that there are two Roberts large hinges that hold the ailerons on? Are you concerned with flutter? What size servo did you put in there for the ailerons?
