SPEED

hi amigos
i logged this speed, measured on igyro how accurate is this ? thanks |
RE: SPEED
On the UB ? yea, that's most likely fairly accurate. By the time any large plane looks like its actually going fast, it probably doing well over 250 ..

RE: SPEED
no with my UB,
it was with a barf mkII . i mounted a jet central cheetah on it, i know its overpowered, but fells good that way adrenaline flows nice. hehe |
RE: SPEED
Nice! You must have been 'giving it death' as the Bandit drivers here in the UK say when they 'forget to throttle back'! Come over to the UK - we don't have a max speed limit!! :D Any reason why you fitted an iGyro to a Bandit? They fly sweet enough without any additional tweaks. The BARF II is on my wish list - I just fitted the full door set to my BARF I, and that makes a real difference to top end speed. There will always be a Bandit in my collection!

RE: SPEED
WOW 453 mate? i need to see the video to believe it xexe!! jesus...

RE: SPEED
Those are typical speeds for this setup.. not too high and pleasant to watch. The Cheetah is also one of the nicest sounding engines around, congrats!
|
RE: SPEED
281 MPH!
That's cookin' |
RE: SPEED
What was Shulmans record speed? I forget. 283 is haulin the mail for sure.
|
RE: SPEED
337 MPH I think
|
RE: SPEED
hi i am removing the igyro from barf to mount it on the ultra bandit i will let you know how fast it is next sunday
place your bets barf mkII with cheetah or ub with mammoth? which one is faster? |
RE: SPEED
Hey Paul,,
I love that combination. I have a Super Bandit with Merlin 140, which is crazy fast. Too fast for me.. if I hold it open..:D Be aware though GPS is not always that accurate, especially when measuring top speed. I have GPS logging on my Bandit and sometimes I get an unexplained spike in the speed readings. What I think happens is sometimes the GPS signal is momentarily lost, and when it reacquires, it "jumps" to the new position.. Not sure how the I gyro calculates speed, its accuracy must depend upon the number of position samples it averages. If it is only a small sample then the speed could be way off. Still, it is good fun to play with. Be careful though. (As I know you will :D).. You are well out side what BV recommends for these models.. Roger |
RE: SPEED
hi roger
on the ub i have pitot speed sensor, i will compare the speeds displayed on the fadec of the mammoth and on the igyro to se how near are each other i will fly netxt sunday to check this |

hi amigos i did tested with the ultrabandit and yes its a lot more fast
what do you think? i didnt used the mammoth speed sensor to compare, next week i will do it, to see if the speed displayed are near each other thanks |

RE: SPEED
yes it uses a gps sensor. i will use a futaba gps sensor and a jet central speed sensor to compare the speed on three diferent sensors
wll do this next sunday |

RE: SPEED
ORIGINAL: Henke Torphammar I thought iGyro were good stuff but you start to wonder when they state GPS speed as airspeed. [X(][X(][X(] Do any of you know how this iGyro unit works. yes I realise it takes a series of GPS position measurements, and then divides the distance change by time to get the speed. But how often does it do it?? Is it once per second or a hundred times a second, or what??? Then does it take a time-average of speed values over a second or two and display that? ? ? ? ? Or does it just display the highest recorded individual speed reading (in which case it is usless nonsense)??? In that case highhorse would be right: it just displays a GPS spike, it looks for the worst position error and displays fiction (but clever fiction as it's what you want to hear) |

Both these were showing too high but when the data was downloaded you could see what were spikes and what were proper curves. The Super was doing 295mph and the Bobcat was doing 254 mph. Jason |
hi amigosi tested this sat and sun i did 10 fligths and readings were very similar 483 ,484, 489, 482,and 488 kmh
