need help finding fairing covers
Hi guys,
I am in need of a two faring covers. I basically have about a 90 degree angle between two surfaces and I want to add an aerodynamic fairing over the joint. It can be symmetric (front shape = aft), I am hoping to something commercially so I dont have to build a plug and make a fiberglass set...the length is about 2", the radius for the center portion would be about 3/8" Anything like this exist already? I wish I had a 3D printer Thanks Dave |
RE: need help finding fairing covers
For something that small I would just use body filler or epoxy mixed with micro balloons. If you run a strip of tape 3/8" from the joint on both surfaces, press the filler in tight, and use the end of a plastic spoon to smooth it out you'll get a nice evening radius that requires little sanding. If the joint still needs to come apart, lay a sheet of wax paper on the surface you don't want the fairing sticking to. Follow the same procedure and you have a removable piece still.
