Electric smoke install
1 Attachment(s)
I've seen them a few times via video, wanted to try it myself. I love smoke, thought it would be cool to have red, white and blue smoke. The smoke I found is from rcsmoke.com. Four minute duration, my biggest concern is that the white smoke from the turbine will over power the two colored ones. Won't be able to tell until I fly it. I had some controllers that a friend made for me when I was doing fireworks on helicopters. Its a sequencer that will arm and fire four different lines.
I mounted the holder about 5/8" away from the wing, and I will put aluminum heat tape on the fuse and aileron right below it. I doubt the heat will be an issue in flight, but if I had to land while the smoke was going, it could generate enough heat to harm the underside of the wing. This is on a tomahawk 2m viper. I have the them 4' apart, any farther would have been really tough to glue the mounting blocks inside the wings. Pretty innocuous when its not on, and takes just two 4-40 bolts to install. |
RE: Electric smoke install
i have been planning on using smoke cartridges like this myself also . Is there a areason for the shrouded mounts with holes ? is this to protect the wing from hot "spray" ?

RE: Electric smoke install
No idea. I'm guessing for cooling and flow. On the website, they show a finished cartridge, the PVC case melts away almost completely, thats why I raised it up on blocks and plan to use the metal tape underneath it. Hope to get out to the field in a few weeks.
