If anyone is interested into buying a BVM KingCat there is a good one for sale.

I've got LGM's old King Cat. The more I fly this plane the more I like it. Incredible flight envelope and tough - only downside is the stupid flex plates. Good idea but wrong execution. If I have my way, the airframe will end its life with me. 😎

Most airplanes I buy end their life with me, HA!

Just purchased a navy scheme KingCat on rcu great deal. Now what engine do you think?
|
A P120 is the perfect size for a KIngCat.
My first and second KC's were powered by a P120, and were fast, but a larger engine will give you the vertical performance you probably want. A P120 will top over 200 MPH coming out of a shallow dive. My new one has a JetCat Titan, and will easily exceed the speed limit by about 40 MPH. |
Harley Condra,
I have a KIngTeck 180 thought about going smaller they make a 160 now. Thanks for your quick reply. |
I flew my old King Cat on a classic P-120 for 6 years and it was great. I'm setting up another one now with a 160 sized motor. The new K-160 is very tempting for the thrust, throttle response and lighter weight. I don't think you need the extra power of the 180 sized motors.
|
I upgraded form a 160 (rhino) to a k180. Prefer the 180, you can always throttle back...

Harley,
Do you know if BVM is going to offer the Kingcat in the new orange hi-viz scheme they've got on the bobcat? Parker BV told me that he has no plans to offer the High-Viz orange and silver scheme on the KC. |
Thanks Harley. Do you know what schemes Bvm has in stock? I'm thinking about a blue and yellow one to replace the blue and yellow bobcat I sold.

No, I don't know what's in stock right now.
I will check with Patty no later than Monday the 29rth of Feb. and let you know. I had a blue and yellow one, and besides being good looking, it was very easy to see in the air. |

I think the Kingcat is actually a hard sport jet to top! I am hard pressed to name another jet that is as big as the KC, yet breaks down as small, & can match the flight envelope. It may be a few years old, but I think it can hang with the best of them, & fit in your compact car. I'm in the middle of refurbishing my Hi Vis, but I went with the Fly Navy re-paint. I think it will be more visible.

Well it looks like this thread may have sprouted some legs again. My next question is landing gear. Could other gear like Pro-Link or Behotec trailering struts be used as well? The latter seems to be used just about on everything else i.e. Carf and Boomerang just looking at options.

The Kingcat is a fabulous platform and is one of my favorites to fly. You can't go wrong with this choice!

Sorry it took me so long to reply, but I saw Patty today, and she tells me that they only have the yellow, black and red color scheme in stock right now. The scheme is number is K6800-005. A picture of it can be seen here: http://www.bvmjets.com/Pages/kits/kingcat.htm#CS |
