Fuel jug cap leaking, looking for the fix.

I bought a high end fuel station for my new and first jet. It uses the standard blue 5 gal tank that is seen in the dozens at any jet meet. I filled up the jug today and it is leaking like crazy at the cap! It has a white foam gasket, I tried loosely tight, grunt hand tight, and pipe wrench tight. If I slosh it around the diesel runs right out. Any suggestions? Because this ain't gonna work. Thanks

What brand jug is it?

If it is a Jersey modeler it should have a rubber O-ring type of seal in the cap.
If it not a JM then go get a O=ring that will fit and seat down in the groove of the cap and that should seal it.

No it is the IQ Hammer version. The blue jug looks identical, but it looks like the Jersey Modeler cap is white and the fuel lines don't run thru the cap. Maybe an O-ring would seal better.

My IQ Hammer cap had a leak however it wasn't the cap gasket it was from around the festo fittings in the black cap. Tightening them made no difference so I removed them, cleaned the area and put a small amount of hylomar type sealant around the fittings and threads and reinstalled them. It's holding up fine so far but I'll keep my eye on it.

No mine leaks from under the cap.

OK, case closed, problem solved. I just had a great conversation with Gotz, wonderful guy and as you see he called me immediately. Turns out I got the black European thread cap but should have gotten the US version. The correct cap is on its way to me now.

The reason I went with the IQ Hammer jug is that it has the variable rate pump, it is very nice.

What did Gotz say was the difference between the caps as I also have the black cap with DR. ING. W. FROHN. GMBH. written on it and it is a very loose fit on the blue fuel can threads (I bought the whole station from Gotz) and its only the foam gasket that's seals when I tighten the you know what out of it. Cheers,
Dave

The Threads on the black Euro cap are not correct for the jug. You should call/email him. As soon as I told him the cap was black he knew what was wrong.
