awesome

Great! Is that a BVM? It kinda looks like it from the vert stab and the canopy, but I can't tell from the wheels.

Scott, that bird is fantastic! My favorite paint scheme. Congrats!

Great Photo by David Hart.. One of many that I am sure we will see coming from the Monster Planes event of last week. This model is indeed an Airworld F-100 F. We at Al's Hobbies were very pleased to be able to supply it as a turn key item to Scott Marr. As part of the service, I flew out to the Florida to assemble, set up and test fly the model on a new DX18 radio for Scott. I also talked him through his first flights on the model.
This model is one of 5 Airworld F-100's built by my great friend Trond Hammerstad from Norway. Trond built a single seater F-100 for me right beside this station wagon :) variant. I honestly have never received a model that has been completed to such a high standard and complete nature. Both F-100's rolled off the bench and took to the air with zero fuss and zero aggravation. Something that is almost unheard of on models of this size and complexity.
Power comes from the stunning B220 turbine. Incredible power for such a small/ light unit. When you see how well these turbines are actually made, and speak to the brains behind it all, you get to realise why they are regarded by those that use them as being that good.
JR servos used, all going through a Powerbox cockpit which made setting the model up a breeze. An I gyro earns its keep, especially in the blustery conditions. 15 ch's are used and thats with some shared surfaces. The model features
Working chute
Nav lights
Lowering landing lights ( Not operated whilst at Monster planes due to a burnt servo )
a three ring afterburner light that is by far the best I have seen
bump stop
speed brake
full set of details for scale pylons and Bull pup missiles along with MK52 bombs

Possibly the best painted hot section I have ever seen

The smoking chute idea was all down to our crew chief for the event... The illustrious Bob O. I was a little sceptical when he mentioned it, but when he went to the effort of making a special trip to get some, I thought we may as well give it a shot. Good call Bob O... It worked a treat and in my opinion got the biggest holler of the event when it popped on touchdown.

teambutter 10-31-2013 08:53 AM

Agreed! Amid all the amazing aircraft and piloting skills on display, Bob-O's Smoking Chute stole the show! Smile on his face was absolutely priceless. Decent piloting on that landing too.. ;)

We had a different comparison for what the smell reminded us of  The good news is that it didn't smell of modeller on the flight line for a few moments each day.

jetmaven 10-31-2013 02:42 PM

The timing of the 'chute deployment was perfect every time . Loved it !

jetpilot 10-31-2013 02:42 PM

Thank you very much Ali!
I couldn't be more happy with the model!
Ali did a superb job start to finish with the F100 beginning with the expertly made crate that looked as if Jesus built it himself.
Ali had the F100 shipped to Frank and arrived a day early to the event to assemble and program a new DX18 to the model. We took it to the field the same day and did the test flights and everything went perfectly and worked like a swiss clock!
The model was delivered completely turn key and completely trimmed out and tuned in!
The F100 got applause every flight!
The F100 has just about every option you can think of and the Chute was a real hoot!
I couldn't be happer with the build from Trond and Ali's turn key service was beyond thorough and professional!
Its a stunning model!!
Thank you again!
Scott

Hi all. What is the baby powder used for?

teambutter 11-01-2013 04:45 AM

It is used for the effect you see in the picture. It just looks cool. Not to mention the waft of fresh air the powder leaves behind.:rolleyes:

muzzgail 11-01-2013 04:50 AM

Sounds like a cool plan.

Bob I had to share the picture with a friend of mine who flew Huns. This is sick! His Hun was camo too, like this one.

Insanely awesome, worthy of sharing with a retired USAF Col.

Totally agree with you. It flew even better than it looked. When we got to Frank's shop, about 10am, the 100 was still in the crate. Uncrated the plane, bolted the fuselage together, programmed the DX18 to it, took it to the field and flew it later that day.
For whatever reason, Ali made me sit in a chair in the corner all day.:( and not touch anything within five feet of the plane. I guess Scott may have warned Ali that I tend to destroy things when I get his shop and just wanted to take precautions that I don't do any harm to the 100. geez!! On Ali's part that was probably a good call. The only productive thing I did that day was go to store and buy baby powder for the chute.

Here's a few pics of the other F100's that Trond has built:
