Variable Timer
 

Instead of using a fuel sensor I made a passive device with a variable timer (attached to the Transmitter). I get very good results with my jet aircraft because of the linear fuel consumption.

My device is a prototype and a little bit too big but I wouldn’t fly without anymore because you get used to it very fast.

There is a receiver and a battery inside and it has a timer that counts down in relation to the throttle position. With my JetCat 140RX the calibration is done between 20% in Idle and 100% with full throttle. I normally have 4 Liters kerosene and the consumption is 0.5 Liters per minute with full power. When I set my timer to 7:30 minutes it is possible to fly down to 0:30 minutes. That gives me a rest fuel of 0.5 Liters including the hopper fuel. There is an audio signal at about 1 minute so there is now need to look at the display.

I was able to do "low power flights" up to 12 minutes and land with the exact same restfuel thanks to the reliable indication.

Of course instead of the external device such a variable timer could be implemented in any transmitter software. I already did the proposal to Jeti but it seems they are not interested because of their own project with the fuel sensor.

I still hope that any other manufacturer will start with it and others will follow. It could even be used with electric planes especially when nonlinear curves could be programmed.

That's not what I want. It should be built in the Radios Software. Just a few lines of code. Why not?

It is in the Frsky Taranis tx, option to have timer speed relative to throttle setting.
