Sneak peek (video)

Here's a sneak peek at something I'll be working on this winter. No, not the plane. A pics and vids web site.

These codecs suck on my NT PC.... Why not use a sopmewhat usual mpeg file ? These files are not big ones, so download time is NOT an issue :( ...

I get the type at the beginning, all the sound, and a single still of the F100, that's it, on all 3 computers I've tried it on, (two using XP and one using ME) I did download that codec, but it has never worked for me on anything.

RE: Sneak peek (video)

Well, I'm bummed that some of you are having a problem viewing this thing. I guess I'll have to go back to the drawing board.

The reason I used DivX is that it was the only encoder I could find that would allow me to resize the clip to 16x9 widescreen format. The original footage was shot with my DV camera set to "16x9 squeeze" mode. This mode optically squeezes the 16x9 picture to fit the 4x3 standard format on tape. After capturing it onto my PC, it is still in 4x3 (720x480) format. If you view it, everyone looks like they have gone on one heck of a diet. However, my video editing software will not allow me to render the clip in a 16x9 size. So, after rendering it in 4x3 size, using the DVSoft codec (not much compression,) I then ran it through VirtualDub using the DivX codec at maximum compression settings, along with deinterlacing and resizing it.

I'll do some more research and testing and see if I can't find a better solution.

Thanks for the feedback,

For those millions of linux folks out there tht are having trouble using aviplay to view the file, use the -xv option

Okay, so much for DivX.

Let's try this. I found out that Windows Movie Maker 2 will set the 16x9 flag on a WMV file. It's rendered in 4x3 (720x480), but if your player supports it, the video will display in 16x9 format. If not, it will display in 4x3 format, and looked horizontally squished. Best I can do for now.

I only have Windows Media Player 9, and it displays in all it's 16x9 glory.

Enjoy.

I'm a star [8D]. When the video starts you see a hat with 100 written on it in the lower right hand corner. That's me with my 100 Years of Powered Flight hat taking a photo as it passes. The video is awesome but you really have to see that one live to understand the overwhelming power. Standing that close to the runway was a real hoot. My body tried everything it could to make me dive out of the way.

BTW - first link was no good. Second one worked perfectly.

I attached the pic I took.
