Powerbox IGyro setup help

Can anyone here explain the purpose of the additional satellites attached to the Igyro? The instructions are horribly unclear about this. Using a JR12X with a 1221 Powersafe RX and connecting gyro to dual ail servos, dual elev servos and single rudder servo.

So do I keep 4 sats on the 1221 and then attach 3 more to the IGyro? Can I put the additional sats right next to the old ones? Running out of good locations for any more sats...

thx for any help and advice...

Alex from the UK has awesome youtube videos on this. Bigger question, how come futaba can be safe with two little wires coming out of the rx and JR has to have all these satellites? It cannot be any safer, you don't hear about futaba planes going down due to radio issues…. Always puzzled me.

Figuring it all out...albeit slowly. Seems as though if I want to use the IGyro and still have power redundancy via a dedicated power bus, I will need to get a Powerbox in conjunction with the IGyro. In other words, if only using the IGyro with the JR1222 Powersafe, there would only be 2 servo wires from the RX feeding all 5 servos plugged into the IGyro. Seems this would be unacceptable on a large jet so apparently time to buy more stuff!

Still trying to understand the wiring diagrams for using the Competition SRS with the IGyro and JR sats...maybe someone out there has an easy explanation :-)

I have a JR12X and went through the same process/questions you are and eventually decided I would be better off just buying the PB Royal SRS that incorporates the 3 axis gyro. Takes care of your rx/satellite issues and has 24 channels, servo match/adjustments, mixing, voltage regulation, power distribution, and even has built-in door sequencing. Completely eliminates most of the questions you have and it seems to have better/easier functionality with the gyro.

It's "only" $350 more than the stand alone gyro but probably well worth it considering all it does, unless of course, for have already bought the IGyro.

Good luck,

Craig

I was just thinking of setting up an iGyro in my ARF Bandit.
the original question that was do you need 3 +2 satellite receivers ?
the manual shows 5 satellites for std Spektrum Rx
3 says on the iGyro and 2 on the Rx
im having second thoughts now on the standard install

I had the same thoughts. On my setup I would have the two servo wires powering the 5 iGyro outputs with a total of 8 servos on them. As I found this unacceptable, For 3 servos I ended up separating the power leads from the signal lead in the wire, then taking the power from the JR1222 while connecting only the signal to the iGyro. There are plenty of "power ports" available on the 1222 for this given the iGyro drives the most important channels in the new setup anyway.
