Thermocouple issue ?
Hi
I have recently installed a new Keroburner/glowplug to replace my failed one. However, now I am finding that when the engine tries to startup it does the following: - Starter spins engine for a second or two, up to 4500RPM, then lets go. - System shows 'Burner-on" - Temperature shows 28-30 celcius (Im in Australia) :) - Engine by now has slowed to almost a complete stop.. - System changes to "Ignition" and "Pre-Heat" - Temperature climbs only a couple of degrees - BUT, now it just seems to pour fuel in and does nothing else. - I shut it down. However, If I blast the thermocouple tip with my hot air gun during the startup I see the temp rise to above 40-50 degrees celcius and the starter kicks back in and spins the engine again , then it continues to start properly.. I am thinking there is a prob with the thermocouple but can't figure out why it works fine once it gets a blast of my heat gun... My question is, should the starter come on earlier and stay on? It seems to me that how is the temp probe suppose to read the temp rise if there is no air blowing the gases back to the tailpipe? I'm using a Xicoy v10 which came with the engine. I haven't changed anything, it use to start fine until I puled the engine out to replace the keroplug. Also One more thing I did was take the negative wire off the glow plug thread and screw it to the engine housing. I know the plug works because I can do a test via the FADEC thing and also monitor the glow plug temp with a laser thermometer. Any ideas much appreciated.. Cheers Phil (Australia) |
P.s. My engine is an Unknown brand...meaning I bought it from a new company which I have not ever been able to speak to or find anyone else who also bought from the same company. Nor have I been allowed to ever contact any of the engine component manufacturer :(
There is no badges, labels, model numbers or anything on the engine. It's a mystery to me. Not sure if that helps though... Cheers Phil (Australia) |
It sounds as though the ecu parameters are not quite correct. The RPM should remain during early stages. If this is not set correctly you can bet that other start and run parameters are not correct either.
Go thru start and run menu's taking note of these figures. Send them to my inbox and I can try snd help you out from there. Will also help to know the size of the turbine. Phil |
Sounds like the plug is not hot enough.
