Lewis did not get it free. He was highest bidder on it @ the 2013 Jets over Ky. He darn near paid full retail.

Ha,

I love the rooftop jets. That's how I used to roll back in the DF days. Fun to see all the gawkers and even get pulled over (so the cop could gawk more safely). Then the kids at the gas stations who run over to ask if it really flies....

You can't honestly believe that? That whole thing was a staged.

The fact that Lewis won his own auction was probably questionable. It can be seen as unethical to bid at your own auction. The auction items are supplied for free or highly discounted, so when the CD is bidding, it reprieves regular bidders the chance to get a good deal, or, it inflates the auction prices.

But, maybe it's just accepted in the hobby, since it happens at various events.

Wow! from FEJ Hawk down to "unethical to bid at your own auction" what this thread really about?

Looks like I might be the first. I saw the crash and later inspected the wing. There's really not much to add beyond that.

Unless it's a silent auction and there might be some collusion, why would anyone care who bids, at that point it's open and public and the highest price wins? It's tough to ban anyone who is part of an event from participating, most aren't paid and are there as a favor, to not let them participate seems cruel and unnecessary to start...

More than anything, it sounds like some of you have a personal vendetta going on.:-(
