Weatronic BAT 60 testing started.

Hello all.

We have started testing the USA BAT 60 transmitter.
We have three units for this purpose.
Two units are running 24/7 coupled to a micro 12 and a Smart 8 receiver with servos ( picture below ).

The data files will be analyzed and published here and on our RF link database when the software tool will be available to read the produced data and confirm the stability of the RF stage.
This should happen within 5 weeks from now. In the meanwhile we will have about 1750 hours of operating data available that should enable us to get a MIL approval for our professional customers.
The testing phase will be completely made available on the web and completely transparent. This is the first time that a campaign like this one is being made in the industry.
This is also the first transmitter in the world compliant to the new ETSI standard EN 300 328 V1.8.1 that is going to be mandatory from the first of January 2015.

Weatronic implemented a 100% usage of the 2.4 Ghz band ( all 80 channels ) with a very specific adaptive intelligent frequency hopping algorithm in 2007. The protocol got progressively improved through regular firmware updates and is now fully compliant with the new ETSI standard.

The second phase consist of completely going through all the software features and confirm the end of the beta phase and the stability of the Linux OS.
All the missing features will be thoroughly evaluated before being brought to the platform. We are dedicating to transmitters for this task.
We expect to have the end of phase two completed within 9 weeks from now.
By this time we should have all the features implemented, including the full availability of the 96 channels and 90 servo outputs.

The third phase is about ergonomics. I have developed a number of specific switch shapes and extensions that will be tested by our professional customers and validated or not.
The current layout is complying to the JR10x and JR12x ergonomics within 2 mm. However we have a number of requirements coming from the military side that we will need to meet. This will effectively create customizable ergonomics for specific needs/ preferences.
Phase 3 will be conducted in parallel with step two and we should have a number of ergonomic options validated and available within 9 weeks from now.

Once all 3 phase have been completed, we will release the transmitter to the USA market.
The current schedule brings us to middle January.

Please keep watching this thread for updated information.

Thank you Oli for this initiative.
I'm impatient to read more about bat60 reliability tests.
Could you please confirm that it is possible to have a totalizer timer for each model on the bat60 (memorized total time for the model) ?
Regards.
Arnaud

That is one of the features that have been requested.
Not available yet.

Hi Oli,
The 5 weeks of the RF tests should be finished.
Could you share your first experience ?

Not a single glitch. We are waiting for the analysis software to publish the logs.

Hello,
I would like to know if it's possible (and easy) to train a student pilot with dual control on a weatronic Bat60.
I didn't find trainer mode in the menus of my Tx.
I guess it would need 2 transmitters and maybe a wire ?
Or with wifi ?

Thank you.

Is this just an RF link test or are the gimbals and switches operated...
