Question on door sequencers
 

I am looking for a door sequencer for my Comp-Arf Tutor. I have Bohotec C-50 electric retracts. I want the main doors to close while gear down (P-51 style) and the front doors to remain open.

I am using one servo on each main gear door and 2 servos on the front doors (one for each door 1/2). I am using 4 channels right now on the doors.

My Futaba 18MZ does not have the capability to operate the doors P-51 style due to the 9 second delay I need on closing. I have already worked with Bax in the tech dept. and we determined it was not possible and a sequencer will be needed.

All of the sequencers I have located so far will only operate 3 servo's. Using a "Y" on the nose would reduce me to 3 channels but I need different end points so that is not possible.

Does anyone know of a sequencer that would work for me?

I'm surprised the 18MZ cannot help you out with the sequencing.

I posted some time ago with a sequencing question for the 12FG (a much less sophisticated radio)
& the answers I got solved the problem.

My problems were solved with slowing the retract SWITCH, not the servos, & the point mixing function.

The old fashioned way (mechanical servo arm & linkage adjustment) won't work?

Or spring load them closed & have the noseleg push them open?

I'm working on nosewheel doors for an MB339 at the moment, 4 doors, two cycle closed
when the wheel comes down, two remain open beside the leg. - John.

have you looked at the Rcbee unit for electric retracts. It allows up to 6 servos.

Im using the airpower unit in a Rafale (http://www.dreamworksrc.com/catalog/...tion-Sequencer). Works fine.

One option is to use hitec servos, for which you can program independent center and end-points.

Hi, I'm using 3 program mixers in offset mixing mode on the T18MZ for sequencing the electric landing gear and gear doors on a M2000, the start/stop delay duration can be programmed up to 35 sec. On the M2000, the 3 main gear doors close when the gear is down, the 2 small gear doors (servo driven) remain open on the front wheel. I have made a small video of the sequencing programming but unfortunately it is in French...maybe you can have a look and find your way as the software of my T18MZ is in English. UP2 + UP4 valves.
Only one servo. Ridiculously simple to operate.

Using this setup in my cougar (nose gear doors remain open). No programming needed, UP valves do tge sequencing via backpressure, not time.

This is the first time I use them and Im super impressed with the simplicity

I also use Jack's setup in a Cougar. Works Flawlessly and saves channels.

18MZ can sequence gear and doors, I use it all the time. They just do not have a dedicated sequencing screen yet.

Use the radio functions of the 18mz even the 14mz can do this. Download the Hobbico files works a treat.

Guys, thanks for your help. I see there are several good products available for more than 3 outputs should I chose to use a separate piece of equipment.

I would prefer to use the radio. I tried the hobbico download per philjack94, suggestion and it would not work because because you could not delay the door closing in the gear down mode long enough for electric retracts which are much slower than air. I need 9 seconds.

It looks like Rafael Sport came up with a solution using 3 program mixes. I watched the video and without being able to understand him ( French), I got the general idea.

My Tutor is completely torn down for painting at this time so I cannot play with it. Once painted and put back together I will start another thread and hopefully Rafael Sport will chime in and help me with the programming.

I have used the Hobbico with electric retracts and doors with Avanti S.

OK, I will give it a try when I get it back together. I may have missed something when I tried.

Have a look at this video i made of a sequencer. Watch the time bar and you will see the doors are open for 6 sec before they close again, I could delay them further if needed.

+3 on giving the 18mz another chance.

I use the Program Mix with the Line Mode. Its just easier for me to see it on the graph rather than the sequencer.

I also use electric gear and do not have a problem with enough delay. You do not have to follow the Hobbico guide word for word, servo start and travel delays are modified to give you what you need. Use the guide as a starting point only.
I found the guide a long time after my own experimentation with sequencing but have since suggested it to heaps of other interested guys who also use it for electric gear.
It does take a bit of figuring to get right and for a $3k radio it should do it for you.
If you dont have any luck, pm me or call and I can help you along with it. And if that doesnt work I have an old Jetronics sequencer you can have for free.
