Looks like F-18 missiles launching rails.

raron455 11-20-2014 07:04 AM

Those shorts are ODD,,,

Couch Potato 11-20-2014 07:10 AM

What are those fuselage fences under the elevators ?

Jetdktr 11-20-2014 08:00 AM

Does the exhaust come out the front??

racer8297 11-20-2014 08:34 AM

Is it the block on the front of the vertical fin? Like an F16?

wjvail 11-20-2014 08:40 AM

Let me try... It says Ferrari, Marlboro, and is painted like an F1 car but it has wings and is not a car at all. Ferrari builds and races cars but this is an airplane! Is that it?

Besides the other observations made, the jet has a big and fugly bar code on the top. What's with that????

As far as the people ... The guy in front of the wing is wearing the fugliest pair of shorts I've ever seen. I can't believe anyone would even buy those shorts.

And the shadow he's casting looks like Scooby-Doo.

yes,of course. . .the missile rails on the wing tips. . .This is not a combat aircraft.

Not quite true...

More than 80 RAF Hawk T1s were converted to T1As. These were equipped to carry 2 under wing sidewinders. This is actually the version of Hawk used by the Red Arrows...

Best Regards,
=Adrian=

Agree. . .but the "operative words" are under the wing. . .hard pressed to find armament on the wing tips.

Eric

Is it that fact that someone associated with Scuderia Ferrari F1 is actually smiling?

Thant's funny!

Maybe it's that it's a modern airplane and advertising cigarettes has been banded for decades.?.?

The filename associated with that image says "Kentucky girl.jpg". I'm in Georgetown, Kentucky right now. Is she anywhere in the vicinity? Hopefully? Please?!?

Beneath the colour scheme this is a fairly accurate scale rendition of a Hawk 100. The longer nose, fuse strakes, fin radar, hard points, tip missiles etc are all scale. There really is a lot more to the Hawk than just a "Red Arrow" !!!

ok... Here's some useless info for ya... In some parts of Europe it is illegal to advertise cigarettes logos on the F1 cars. So Marlboro put that on instead. If you scan it, it actually gives you the price of a pack of their smokes. lol

"SMURFs"......Small control surfaces were fitted ahead of the all-moving horizontal tailplane, with the odd name of "smurfs", an acronym standing for the torturous phrase "side mounted unit root fins". The smurfs create vortex turbulence over the horizontal tailplane when the aircraft is at high angles of attack, ensuring that the control surfaces remain effective.
