Hard mount servos
HI all, how many of you out their, hard mount your servos in Jets( no rubbers on lugs). I know their is no vibration in jets, or is their from turbulence, etc.
Pros for no rubbers=tighter fit in small spaces, shorter screws, No chance the servos will get loose from the rubber grommets drying out . Cons= more servo wear on gears. If more are hard mounting, what's your filler piece where the rubber was, Hysol ? Whats your take on mounting servos in Jets Rcpete |
I never use the rubber mounts on jets, you need as much power as you can get and a solid mount is the best way of stopping flutter from starting

Never even thought about it. I just used the rubber mounts that came with them. Have never had a problem. If the screws are tight on the grommet, I don't see much movement that would cause flutter. Seems like the rubber mounts and grommet would help distribute the stress on the mount a bit though. Especially with the screw usually being ~ 1/8 away from the mount's servo hole.

I try and use servo frames whenever I can. They come with hard plastic inserts that fill the large holes in the servos.

Whats your take on mounting servos in Jets Rcpete This is what I offer on my PYCABS servo mounts. https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.n...393f8297e4e0e3 I can hang 225 lbs on a pair of these without any hint of cracking... http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/rc-j...o-bracket.html |
I 3D print plastic grommets for #2 and #4 screws for my stuff.

I have noticed the arms on servos are not perfectly perpendicular to the servo and with out the grommets it bends it a little till it sits flat with surface. I have done both nothing wrong with either, I use carbon plates on top of my grommets and dont notice any play in them.
