New IGYRO 3e is here!

Just received the baby brother of the IGYRO known as the IGYRO 3e. With most of the features of the big boy this little man is quick to set up with all the features of the big one for the 3 axis but without the GPS speed / gain function. The gain is set in flight and then transferred to a 3 position switch. Available from Duralite Flight Systems.

Hello,

That looks very slick. Does the servo signal go straight through this unit? In other words, does the power for the servos go through the printed circuit board of this unit or is the servo power supplied externally of this device, like a power box set up?

Thanks

Looks like it just go in Between the servos and Rx like the Cortex do so servo power must past through the unit im guessing.
I was looking at the Quick start guide and wondering if the Range A +100 side of the gain would be the same as the Cortex amber side(normal mode)? and the green side -100% be heading hold like the Cortex ?

I have preordered one of these. When you say the gain is on a 3 position switch how do you intend to employ that? Slave to the flap or flight mode switch, say seperate gains for takeoff, clean, and landing. Or its own 3 position switch that you choose a gain setting for slow, cruise, fast? This will be my first experience with a gyro in a jet.

That will be personal preference and can be done many ways. Typically your takeoff and landing gain will be same (higher) and clean/flying gain (lower). The gain switch can be a separate switch by itself, or it can be your flight mode switch, or your retract switch, etc. Although I initially set-up two separate gains, once I got the high speed gain set, I have found I can use that for all phases of flight, so essentially it's On and I forget it, but I can still turn the gyro off if needed.

Thanks, lots to learn and then decisions to make... But I imagine the first time during the learning process having the gyro on its own three position switch with one being off will be a good way to learn the gains. Anyway, sorry to hijack the thread with basic questions.

Hello,

the Range A (green side) is without heading, Range B (red side) is with Heading. The Heading is much different from other gyros: You can turn it on when starting, flying and landing. The plane will not stall.
We recommend always to use the Heading- the plane will fly very precise but the feeling on the sticks is the same as before.

It´s on pilots choice to use mixers to increase or decrease gain in different flight situations.

Yes, definitely want to be able to turn off for initial flights just in case things get screwy!:p

Good luck, you'll love a gyro once you get everything set.

I wonder if the Demon cortex gyro will come down in price to match this new gyro from Powerbox?

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=2052340This is the best thing Power Box has done, a very user friendly gyro at a good price, one that everyone can use.

So if I read threads about setting up and using the Powerbox igyro then everything is about the same for the 3e?

Nope. this is super easy. looks easier than cortex. I like that each output has its own power.

I have a very specific question for both IGyro and Cortex (I post in both threads) :
If I have « special » ailerons acting like this:
Flight mode I:

Ailerons stick input
Receiver ch out ail1
Receiver ch out ail1

Level fligh (no input) (centered)
+100
+100

Full right turn
+100
-100

Full left turn
-100
+100

Flight mode 2 (inactive):

Ailerons stick input
Receiver ch out ail1
Receiver ch out ail1

Level fligh (no input) (centered)
-100
-100

Full right turn
-100
-100

Full left turn
-100
-100

See those special ailerons as “only going up” (being down when active and up when inactive) ailerons or like flap mixed with aileron (since flap cannot goes up).
Questions :
Is Cortex can do this?
Is IGyro 3e can do this?
Thanks

I have a other one for IGyro : Base on the pdf flyier, they state :
CAUTION: two important rules for using the iGyro 3e in everyday flying:
1. …
2. Always carry out a check of the control surface movements, taking care to move the sticks
to both end-points.

Is this mean that the gyro is “learning” at every startup the endpoints ? What if you forget to do it or if you do it at half way ?

gonzalom 12-07-2014 10:34 PM

Looking forward to try the new Gyro on my BVM Electra!

Mine arrived last week.. can't wait to try it on...

Yes, PB confirmed that it learns every boot up. But most people do and full and free check before flying, and PB say if you don't do it on the ground it makes little difference, certainly not a problem.

Thanks Dave ! And about my other question, I somehow change my design so that my "special" ailerons act like normal ailerons...
So, I'm planing in buying the PB unit soon...

As I know, the i-Gyro have a great function--the "heading" effect will change to "normal" when the transmitter stick move from central position. Do this "i-Gyro 3e" have similar function?

JackD 12-19-2014 09:58 AM

Dave or anyone that has seen one in the flesh:
Are the male to male cables needed to connect it to the receiver included with the Gyro? or do I need to provide my own?

Thanks
Jack

JJP 12-19-2014 10:06 AM

Jack yes they are included.
