DerJet are working on a 1/8th scale F-35A Its 196cm long and 134cm span, weight 11-13KG and one of the prototypes has been flown on a P-100Rx!

I'll be putting one together to help with a manual...more news soon :-)

Is that the final version of the undercarriage or will it be scale on the production version?
Any word on a cockpit for it?

Not sure if that is the final version, gear on the example at Hendon is pretty simple!

That's a mockup. But the A model gear is very simple, just not as simple.

Yes! the point was its simple, the model is not meant to be a JWM model. Functional scale is good

Very early days, but will fill in the blanks soon. We fly from a short grass strip and I hope it will operate from there, Not sure if Eric is still doing DerJet I think Kingtech USA also handle DerJet.

Jet Central USA is most definitely a dealer for Der Jet Models. As a matter of fact, we are also doing a manual for the new F-35. Jim Hiller who did the excellent manual for the Vampire will be doing the build and the document. Pricing not yet available. We have two F-35's ordered. . .just waiting for the final word.

Der Jet Model offers the Cougar F9-8F, the Vampire and the ever popular Hawker Hunter in two versions. Our office offers build assistance or contract building of all Der Jet Models as well as Skymaster and Fei Bao.

The F-35 arrived with me end of last week and again DerJet have done a fantastic job on the detail, the masking alone on this "plain" scheme is more than on a striped sports jet! The parts fit is really good and design detail on things like the all flying tailplane halve hinging and control horn activation leverage tell me there will be little or no slop. The ailerons and rudders are live hinged and feature hidden control rods, actually all the control linkages are inside the airframe. The rudders feature torque rod levers and rudder servos (JR 3401/Fut BLS153) all within the removable fins. The box it ships in is quite compact and very strong, so no transport damage at all. the fuselage is split for ease of transport and initial assembly. Fuel tanks are approx 1.9ltrs each, so 3.8ltrs plus a hopper tank.
I have decided on 2 x JR 8911 on the elevators, 2 x JR 8411 on the aileron/flapparon and JR 3401 on the rudders, with my stock JR 579 on nose steering. Have not fully decided whether I'll use UP or jet Tronic valves for the gear. Radio will be JR DMSS. Turbine will start with a P-140RX, this turbine allows me to swap to a P-100Rx with only a turbine change (4 screws!) so I can try both. Its actually bigger than it looks as it has "bulk"
Scale cockpit is a couple of weeks away and there are some other details to work out, but initial response from those that have seen it in my shop has been 100% positive, even my obsessed with "old" stuff employee likes it!

Can't wait to get on with it.

Looking very nice, your pictures in the shop make it look better proportioned than the early factory pictures in the thread. I did not see a tail pipe? Its UC looks just fine and appears to be robust. Nice to see split nose gear doors, I flew the slightly bigger Jetlegend one a few years back and its single nose gear door was "aerodynamically problematic" to say the least. The F35 looks draggy but even the larger JL one at 2300x1575mm one had plenty of power and kept its speed OK in the turns with a 160 turbine. If my JL one is typical of "type" the long and wide track UC gives it good ground handerling, it was like a race car on the deck with no tenancy to tip on the roll in and out or bunny hop on landing at all. I look forward to seeing this one fly at a meeting soon?.

Took some shots next to a Honda Accord estate and it looked small against a long car, Tail pipe is there, just forgot to photo it and the tanks!
Yes, aiming for Throckmorton Jet meeting in April. Will see how it goes, quite simple on the control surfaces, gear is the only area needing work, the guys at DerJet have done a great job on this and the ARF-ness of the package.

Will be interesting to setup all those gear doors; air or servos? did you plan to pilot this beauty with the 28X .
This jet is maybe my next winter project .Waiting for price.....
Soon we will see the real one in the Canadian skie!?

Air on the nose and front main doors (rams provided) the factory used a spring to pull the rear door closed (this is also provided)
I may well use the 28x yes.
The North American dealers will have a price soon I'm sure.

Glad to see the undercarriage looks much better than the one pictured in the first post.
Can you confirm how the stabs connect? Picture 8 looks like it rotates on 3mm threaded bolts, but that can't be correct.

Never mind throckmorton, hope you have it ready for CJ!

As supplied they do pivot on threaded screws, The glass pivots would last years even with it turning on the fine threads, add a bit of grease and even longer. It would be easy to find some cap head screws with plain shank that can be substituted if it concerns you.

Unlikely as I have customer builds to finish too. But never say never...
