How do you store your wings?

Moving into a new house, finally have the room for a dedicated shop. I built racks to hold the fuselages, but still have all the wings piled up against the wall. I have a blank piece of paper here, I'm building two good sized benches that will allow me to place a few under it, but would love a better solution.

Any suggestions?

I just put some hooks on the wall and hang them by the straps on the bags. You can get a ladder hanging hook that's about 12" deep and hang a couple sets at a time on it

Better put a shade up there or your paint might fade unevenly:cool:

I live in seattle, its never sunny…. ;-)

Why not the same way you are storing the fuselages? I use the same kind of rack for my wings. I also have used the adjustable metal shelf brackets with foam pipe insulation over the supports to protect the wings. The flat kind of brackets are cheap and come in different lengths.

Ok, but UV gets through regardless and that's what does a good deal of the fading.

Marty, you are right, I was just making a feeble attempt at humor, I need to put something up.

Rapture…you are correct as well, thats the best idea so far. Hoping I could get more in a tighter space with something on the floor

Hey Mike how about a dedicated cart with a table on top with shelving and opening on one side to slide wings in and out? put it on wheels so it can be moved around, make it same height as your benches so if you are working on something huge you can move it over and have more area...... as for the window at least put a blind on it so youarent showing would be thieves whats inside(thats the business I'm in ,keeping them *******s out) don't advertise what you have as well as protecting the paint.. I've also seen depending on how high your ceiling is a drop down platform with foam on it where you just lay the wings on it flat... a series of bullies and rope and it comes down evenly, or I'm sure you could motorize it too :)

Hi, I store my wings against the wall in the garage. I run 2X4s vertically fastened to the wall about 3 feet apart and drill 3/8 or 1/2 inch holes in them- matching holes in the adjacent 2x4s. Install appropriate size dowels in the holes and place the wings on the two dowels in the adjacent 2X4s.. -- .---------------------.-- like so. That's supposed to be a wing supported by two dowels. Oh, well you get the idea. I hang my fuselages from nails pounded into the wall. I bend coat hangers to go between the prop and the fuselage and hook the hanger hook over the nails with the fuselages hanging below by the prop-- tail down.

Mate, that is a sexy Sea fury you have there. What is the make, and what engine?

Battens up the wall with a strip of velco stapled to each length, you can then either use opposite velcro to hold the wings to the battens or sow the velcro to the wing bags so the just 'stick' where placed on the battens...

Love the PVC cross rack… pretty cool. Thanks for the ideas, just what I wanted. I might make that cross rack out of 4x4's. two of my warbirds weigh 50lbs plus.

Matt, Its a jerry bates kit with moki 250. I didn't build it. Gentleman in Canada was selling it, couldn't pass it up. Guy did an amazing job. Here are a few more pics.
