BVM Bobcat Composite Flap settings
Manual just says "use included template", but I don't have one. Anyone know the degrees of T/O & Landing flaps?
Thanks, Jay |
Jay
Didn't use the gauge, but mine is set :- Balance back 15mm from the boom dots Take off flap TE root section 25mm (1") and 3mm (1/8") up mixed in. Landing flap TE root section 90mm (3 5/8") and 7mm (bit more than 1/4") up mixed in. Any CROW and you can reduce the elevator up compensation Dave |
Thanks Dave!
|
I have measured with a caliper and realised I had mixed conversions-so re done slightly!
|
Thanks Dave, right now I have 15 degrees for T/O & 35 for landing, but I still need to program crow so I can fine tune it a bit.
Thanks again, you're always a huge help :) Happy Holidays, may Santa be very good to you |
out of curiosity, what is crow supposed to achieve aerodynamically? Is it like a spoiler, to reduce lift and increase the sink rate and glide slope angle?
|
Yep! basically, it dumps lift. Effect can be different depending on the wing section and aileron cord ratio. It changes the wing incidence on that portion of wing, so it works well on something like a Classic Flash as it changes the angle the airframe flies at, raising the nose, so adding drag, the nice fat wing section still has plenty of lift.
For me the Bobcat has plenty of drag from the flaps, so like the UF I don't like CROW on these. |
I like crow my feild is 500' long and the crow really helped me dial in small feild landing I deploy full flaps and crow in turn onto final she comes out with perfect speed and sink rate, throttle as elevator center feild bingo
|
How much crow did you use c/f? Currently I did 15 degree flap for T/O, 35 for landing with 3/8" aileron up (crow) on each side. Mr Matt, you are correct on all, & in addition it acts as a form of mechanical washout (as Dave said), so in theory it will help almost any aircraft maintain aileron (roll axis) control at a slightly higher angle of attack (reducing stall speed) than without.. & it's fun to program & cool..lol
|
3/8" or less no more for me, I never seen a downside on any Jet to using All mine have some measur. of it
|
Thanks c/f
