Question for the Interairco UAT users

I know most folks leave fuel in them and you deff need to for the paper type, but what about this style UAT?

By the way I got one of their fuel filters and will be giving it a try as well. I love the clear design, I just hope it works as advertised.

I use the drain feature no problems
six months of use

Thanks current, its the first UAT I have owned you can drain without having to flip the jet over so I figured why not. I dont like keep any fuel in my jets if I dont have to.

I personally would leave my element soaked, for two reasons: (1) once you have purged bubbles, you want to keep the element wet to keep the bubbles out - remember that any airspace between the fibers becomes a bubble when you flood the membrane, so you have to go through the whole purge process again - this is true of any element style. (2) accumulation of oil - any time you allow a kero-soaked membrane to dry, the aromatics evaporate, but the oil stays - especially the turbine oil. Overtime, this will gunk up any filter, paper or otherwise.

My concern over bubbles also applies to anywhere between the UAT and the fuel shutoff, and particularly the filter. I want to keep that line full of fuel to ensure I do not have a bubble trapped somewhere along the way.

Not sure what your concern is regarding keeping fuel in the UAT - I can say that I keep my jets in the hobby room for weeks while working on them, and smell has never been an issue. I have a freakishly good sense of smell, and any fuel odor would bother me.

I have a few Jets all with Intaircos UAT. I always drain them when finished flying and have never had a problem. Intairco advertising is genuine and what is said and you see is what you get.

I have 5 jets ranging from over 6 years and have Never drained my tanks let alone the UAT, some have sat there for 12 months I am more concerned about my batteries.

These units have scintered bronze centred pick ups....no problems ever draining them.
