Bolly Scorpion was another one I always wanted to get. Can't find a half decent pic of one though....

That XXX is nice, it's on my list because of the looks. But airframe is $1200, now add retracts, struts and turbine conversion kit. Kinda puts it in the realm of all the new planes we have around (not sub $1000 airframes).
The PAF Sting Evo ($914 US last time I checked) is also something I'm looking at (like the looks of the XXX better, plus the XXX is an arf, the Sting Evo is a kit). This is why I'm also looking at the Reaction 54 kit. You can buy it and retracts for around $800 (yes I know, also a little time, and it doesn't look like a jet). Plus I found a scheme that I can live with. |

David I had V1 but that really was a waste of time and money cause of all the things wrong with it. I still got my eyes on one and it fit's in my opinion the jet what we are looking for on this tread. But then it has to be an real V2 with all the hick up's taken out, otherwise i would not burn my fingers on it again, after my V1 xxx |

I think retracts are a necessary evil for turbine jets.

I just maiden my HSD Super Viper Turbine "Foamy" today and they really flew nice! I received the PNP version and added a JetCat P-60 to push it around nicely. I got mine from dragonhobbyusa but I think Global Jet Club is now carrying them as well.

Yes, they are nice and easy to fly. We are now the exclusive distributor for this Turbofoam jet, we have turbinized it and upgraded all the parts and servos so they now fly more like composite airframe. Wings are also modified so it's more symmetrical in performance. We introduce it at First in Flight and will fly a bunch of them at Kentucky Jet. If you have any 12-14 pounder paper weight, you can give it a life instead with this peppy jet.

I wish I had the know how and more so..the TIME..to build a plug and make molds because I have been playing with that idea for a long time. Have a sport jet in my head that's part, F-5, T-38, and F-20.

About 10-12 years ago there was a sport jet from Germany, called Jurassic. I have done some small modifications to it, and tried to cad it, making it suitable for laser cutting. A friend of mine started building the prototype, but then he suddenly could afford ARF jets ;-)

Hey, now that looks pretty good! I prefer more of a T-38/F-5 tail (I know I'm picky!) but that looks very nice man!
Have you done anymore with this? A built up wood kit would be cool! You fuse shape is perfect :) WIsh I could do CAD like this |

The Bandit ARF MKII is a great plane for a p-70. It's lighter than the older MKI and with the inner geardoors on the mains its a much cleaner airframe. The p-70 would push it along at a really nice speed too..

Maybe Tom Cook would be willing to sell the tooling to the Starfire 2C to someone? I'm 100% in agreement though that I wish BVM would have kept the smaller jets available on a custom order basis. A K-45 powered Aggressor III would be a hell of a combo!

Not everything about these was beautiful, but the style was awesome, the size was right, they looked like jets. It's what I grew up with. I miss designs like these. Even today's jets that are similar don't look the same. The flash has something droppy about the fuselage that I just don't like, The Bandit ARF is ok, I just don't want a 5K ARF. I enjoy building when I have time, many of these jets didn't even take that long to build, they flew well, yes they weren't "light trainer jets" but what we considered trainer jets back then was a far cry from what trainer jets today are. |

I've flown a Reaction 54. It is a fun plane. Some dislike cause it not a sexy, zippy, jet. Just a good flying, fun, sport plane that happens to have a turbine instead of prop. Sure....no 200 mph rocket, but fun in other ways like a sport plane should be.

I had an R54 and they are great but they lack all of the criteria in the small fast and sexy category haha.
