It’s seem for some like it’s a competition to fly with a really Aft C&G or to say it’s way back at a crazy number, for me I started at the factory setting and adjusted from there....still got 3 batteries in the nose and one (ECU batt) moved beside the Nose Gear(that I moved it after a few first flights).....I like the feel I have now with a little push on the stick to maintain level inverted....land well and do all the maneuvers in the book.....and the number I’m at is completely irrelevant ...it doesn’t matter to me at all, it’s all in the feel.

If I had to put all batteries in the tail I would have....it’s not about where they are...it’s about how the plane feel...it’s seem that some plane come out different from the factory...mine is a Nov 2017 jets...

I know the first flights are for getting the feel of the jet. If I would move them to where he said it would definitely be way tail heavy.

I am here to tell you that my engine (kingtech 160g3) is as far back as physically possible (against the uprights in the turbine mounting bay) and my flight batteries are in the turbine bay at the center of the engine on each side of the fuse. My UAT is butt up against the fuel tank and my ECU batter is in front of that. My fuel and smoke pump are under the radio plate up as fr back as they can be.. And I think my plane is a little nose heavy.. .. Having NOTHING to do with a competition.. But more of how the plane feels in the sky and landing.. I have had 3 different T1s and 2 T3s.. The "best feel" for me is this .. If I have a FULL UAT I should be able to set it on its tail and it should stay there.. that is where I like to fly THIS plane.. On other planes I am more towards the mose heavy side of manufacturers recommendations... This is my 2 cents and My Opinion..

After having maiden flight with my T1 2 weeks ago with CG set to 245 it was definitely nose heavy, so I have already stripped her and removed the 1500mAh LiPo I had up in the nose for the lights and that’s now near enough over the CG now aiming for 260mm over centr wing tube
I also flipped the motor on the electron units so in the wing very easy to do, also cut the wheel wells and lowered to give more room for spinning wheels! Pleased that the double front door mod I did worked out as well and did not rip off first flight!

Also my tank when measured held 3300ml which I seemed to get through pretty quick on the maiden (140XBL) so I also have ripped that out and currently waiting replacement from CM Jets 4litre 1.3litre smoke

Mine balances level at center of wing tube. All batteries up front with a JetCat P-120. Hopper tank full. No maiden flight yet, to busy working. Thanking God I have a job.

Desertlakesflying 08-15-2020 07:22 PM

Put the smoke tube out the back not in the engine bay.

clavin 08-15-2020 07:29 PM

I run a Kingtech 160G2 on the factory tank and I get about 7 minutes flight time////

Hi guys, do you have anyone the option to share the Cortex Pro settings for the T-1. I need some foundation, which I then fine-tune according to my needs. Thanks. ***winter***

In the thread Cortex Pro I found this. I don't know if it's applicable for T-1.

I have a PB Mercury in my T1, but I could give you the Cortex Pro settings from my T1 mini as starting point if you like. -Tom

Here is a short video of me flying my T1 filmed by SoloShot3:

Tom,

Would you mind sharing your Mercury settings for your T-1? Gain only or At. Assist? Also, GPS or no?

Thanks,
Craig

Sure, I will need to look at it tonight to get the numbers for you. I am using a PB GPS module with my Mercury SRS. -Tom

I have the following settings: Gain = 39%, Airspeed Factor = 3.
I have a 3 position switch configured to allow Attitude Asst, Attitude Hold (I never use this position, so I'm not sure why I even have it as an option), and OFF. I normally fly the Attitude Asst mode. ATT ASST is not the same as RATE Mode. ATT ASST mode keeps the roll and pitch axis in HOLD mode (but not the YAW Axis), RATE Mode puts all axis' in the dampening mode.

I land with 110mm of flaps and she approaches and flares nicely with these settings (see video above). I did have an opportunity to fly it at full throttle all the way around the pattern a few weeks ago and I did not notice any oscillation on any axis at high speed, but this might not be the case on another T1 airframe (a number of variables here). I hope this helps. -Tom

Excellent! Thanks for taking the time to do that

Ok Tom, send the settings from the T-1 mini.
Nice landing. ***winter***

Can someone explain to me how you reversed the retract so the motor goes into the wing. I'm staring at mine and it's not clicking in my brain what I'm suppose to do. I haven't retracted them yet to see what it looks like with the retracts down, maybe it will make sense then?

Thank you Daniel, I saw the pin and wasn't sure I should bang on it until I found out. That helps a bunch.

Here are my Cortex Pro settings in my T1 mini, I don't remember where I got these settings but the jet flies very naturally with no oscillation at max speed. I have not flown it is reasonably gusty conditions so there is a possibility these settings are a little soft with some opportunity to increase the Gain. On the ground, when I tip the nose, or roll the wing the controls do move to counter the movement so I'm confident the Gyro is doing something. I was worried that a Stick Priority of 5 (which I think is pretty low) would make it feel like I was fighting the gyro in flight, but I have not noticed that behavior at all. I'm not really sure what the "Locked-in" setting does, again I got these settings from someone else and use them as a starting point. I also don't understand the difference between the Gain value in the Bank setup, verses the Gain value set in the Gyro Settings setup (I'm using Jeti DS-24). In the Bank setup I have all three axis gains set to 20. In the Gyro Settings I have Gain set to 20 when flaps are up, 25 when flaps are mid, and 30 when flaps are full down (this is all controlled by flight modes). For all three axis' in the Bank setup (via Device Explorer) I have the Gain = 20, Stick Priority = 5, Locked-in = 1. This is for both RATE mode and HOLD mode.

As I said above, these settings are fairly conservative, and should be a safe starting point. I'm still doing some research to understand what the "Locked-in" setting does. Hope this helps. -Tom

Hello folks
I could use a little help from some of you guys using the GS200 controller. Can I get a snap shot of your brake and steering setup? Or your numbers you used. Thanks for your help.
