Hello, I wanted to start this thread to give you guys a place to ask questions and exchange event related discussion. I have received several emails and many pilots are excited. Come warm your hands in jet exhaust!

New Jet Event!
WINGGATE 2016 November 11 & 12 AMA Sanctioned RC Jet Rally held in Oklahoma near beautiful Grand Lake at the South Grand Lake Regional Airport. Identifier is 1K8 Fly in if you like, as the airport will be open for arrivals and departures. You can pit on the paved ramp, hangars storage for overnight. New Holiday Inn in Vinita which is just a short drive. Also numerous BnB places to overnight. RV parking with 110v power is available. Covered area with tables and seating. 100LL and Jet A available on the ramp! No landing fee, just show up, fly and have fun! Bring fireworks and night flyers if you have them. Got two jets ready to go and working on a turbine power glider to bring along for kicks.
Guys, jet flying won't get any more laid back than this. Bring what you got. Fly fast, fly slow, fly stupid (My favorite category), fly through the bone fire with your foamie after dark. All acceptable and welcomed. |
David has graciously offered to make a pot of his famous chili for Saturday lunch.

Well I will see Sparky's chili (and eat my fair share) and raise with a couple of pans of Peggy's home made brownies and cinnamon rolls for breakfast on Saturday.

No pictures. This is the first year for this event. Just come on down and plan on lots of flying in a wide open environment!

Tenatively planning an after party on a 100' long house boat Saturday night. We we are sending flyers to airport supporters and local schools in an effort to get youth interested. If the weather is poor we can fly inside a 100 x 120 hangar with micros. Please send a pic and brief description of your airplanes if you haven't. We will be having a DJ and announcer that will need your info so he can tell the spectators all about you. |

Event Update
Hello as we near the event things just keep getting better. We will have a big coffee pot and a Keurig (if your feeling fancy) setup inside the flight planning building. I'm going to round up some doughnuts. We have invited four local schools in an effort to share our hobby and inspire new aviators.

Lots of prep work! Coffee pots, reserved pit area on the ramp, food, lots of food.
Hangar prep for the Lightspeed presentation to the local school and lots of room for rc jet parking. A second hangar for Friday nights airport sponsored dinner. Both hangars graciously provided by Derrick Schmidt Aviation (DSA). |
Hey Jason. I am thinking about swinging over to watch. All I have in the jet fashion is an 90mm EDF T45. I can bring the big Slick for display.
Anyway let me know for sure since I am just over at Grove. |
