I had one a few years ago. After that I always remembered to fuel up before flying.. Jason |
Love it Jason.

We had one at our club that flamed out frequently. The problem was air in-leakage on the intake side of the fuel pump. If I recall correctly, it was at the UAT. Fixed the air leak and no more flameouts.

No flameouts for me.

Had one 2 weeks ago on a M140xbl. Was on down wind leg with 1/3 throttle gears down getting ready to come around and land. Luckily my Jeti telemetry spoke " oh sh*t, flame out". No white smoke. Landed safely. GSU says "low RPM" UAT was full, main tank Full more then 1/3. No air bubbles anywhere. Since then I have taken the fuel system apart and all looks good. Have had 75 flights with this engine on an Ultra flash without any problems. 6MM PU SMC tubing all around and 4mm from from pump to engine.. Have no festos in the system. I flew 5 more flights that day without any problems. Still can't figure out what happened.

The most common cause we see at factory is related to failsafe, some customers programm the failsafe at same position as STOP position, so the mínimum radio glitch cause the turbine to shutdown.
My reccomendation is to start the engine, set half throttle and switch off the radio. The engine should reduce power during 2 seconds and then shutdown. If it stop immediately, then the failsafe is not correctly programmed. Gaspar |
I had a flameout on a 200XBL on my Mig 29. I had use the Skymaster supplied felt clunk in the header and saddle tanks. I was lucky enough to make the runway. Put the whole system back up on the bench. Ran the file pump up to full power.
There is a surprisingly large amount of fuel going into a 200 size motor and you could see the walls of the UAT being sucked in, then after a few minutes the fuel in the UAT started to cavitate (boil) . I removed the felt clunks and replaced.the UAT. Haven't had a single issue in 30+ flights. It's a great motor. |
I have a few M200Xbl and they are all plumbed with 8mm tubing. Just a barb reducer to 6mm before the pump. No problems what so ever. M140Xbl has 6mm all the way to,the pump.
