AT280 outer can

Any tips on getting the outer can off or a kind of tool I can make to press it off? I can't afford to send it off - worthless to me like it is. I think something has to be jamming the engine somewhere. With the outer can off, what can I see?

Thanks

Mike

Yea but It wasn't really clear and it seems you were tapping on the intake which seems might thin? Am I missing something? It seems like this AMT maintenance stuff is like voodoo

Eddie Weeks knew how to do that. Saw him do so a couple of times. Think he used a lathe, IIRC.

Grab some heavy gloves, and a heat gun. Make sure the bolts are out of the front... and remove the glow plug. Then, heat the outer can. It will help it expand, and break any leaked thread locker... and in turn... it will slide apart.

DR Honda, you are talking about the screws that are in the forward part of the can? Are the problematic screws the ones that are tiny and can be seen with the bell mouth cover off? Thanks. Mike
