Just bought a DX-9 Black Box edition receiver never worked out of the box, it kept saying bind failed, then it began to heat up with a 2s lipo receiver battery. Not surprised that they discontinued it before the word got out.

Spektrum

I have given up on Spektrum, been fine for the last few years but I have lost a heli and almost a plane on the same day, thrown it all away and gone over to Futaba

Don't leave the SD card in the transmitters.

Really?? first I have heard of this. Can you explain where this info came from?? I have two gen 1 DX18's and they have run great for me with the SD card installed.
thx Vin...

Don't leave the SD card in the transmitters when you mail it in because it won't come back with one. It's in the packing instructions for sending it to the repair facility. Don't send the battery either

I kind of had to laugh when mine came back the first time, it had a big lithium battery warning sticker on the side of the box. Maybe it makes FedEx treat them kinder??? lol

You got lucky... Some of the SD cards they sent out were bad and would cause problems in the radio. It's not what I heard it from it's watching it happen to someone who wouldn't listen to me until they removed it and all was good.

The vast majority of problems with Spektrum are operator error, or not listening to sound advice, not the products themselves.

jester_s1 05-07-2017 06:55 PM

How would Spektrum have an issue with bad SD cards? They don't manufacturer them themselves. I'm sure the same Chinese factory that makes theirs also makes them for Sandisk and a dozen other manufacturers. I can believe there was an issue with integrating that particular technology into Spektrum radios that caused issues with the radios and then ruined the cards though.

Desertlakesflying 05-07-2017 08:16 PM

They got a bad batch of sd cards at one time.

Believe what you want

I'm only speaking from experience and what a friend was told by Horizon after he sent a radio in that crashed 2 planes in one day.

If I hear someone else saying the Spektrum radio is on the cutting edge of technology, I'm gonna loose my mind. These people must live in North Korea and not only drink the cool aid but also snort the powder in the package. Please tell me one thing about that radio that's on the "cutting edge".

Can you turn on your receivers in your aircraft from your radio? Guess someone is on the cutting edge.

dbsonic 05-08-2017 10:27 AM

SDMMC interface has a CRC on the command and responses.. so the protocol has a fault detection mechanism. seems like a bug that any radio effectively ceases critical transmit/receive operations in the event of a fault while reading or writing the card(even if it must do it outside of initialization). As I've said before, I don't think I've ever seen errata published for any of these systems.

mikes68charger 05-08-2017 10:31 AM

So has Spectrum fixed the power safe receivers yet?

If you say so....sounds like a gimmick that will be short lived to me

They will be out in June.

Yes. I can do it from my Radio. Why Short lived? Its a great feature. If you have a scale jet or any aircraft for that matter and don't want to have to take the canopy off to shut it down....flip a switch, why is that not a nice convenience?

Fingers crossed.... lol

They've been showing as late as July and now Late June but the little gyro, what is it an AR3000? is back to July. When I backordered that, I believe it was showing as due in March.

rcjetsaok 05-09-2017 05:52 AM

Well, Back to the 12ch Transmistter myth, That is what it it is... I asked and was told by one of the Blue Shirt's ( Company Man ) at Mississippi that the 12 ch TX is not reality... Just another rumor. However he did tell me that the DX-18 was coming back and would have a limited run depending on sales... Powersafe RX's will be in June sometime, and did not expound on the reason why they were recalled or what the problem was... DX-20 recall was evidentlly a hardware inspection/verification of a potential problem...

Good luck to all, may the force be with you,

Dan

Just confirms what I've said Along SPECTRUM J**k. Short story last summer a friend (HAD) a very large
i.e. Expensive T-45. Well on it's 3rd flight with Septum 18 channel it just spun in for no apparent reason. Next week he had a 16 channel JETI. Never so much as a glitch since. Case Closed

patrnflyr 05-30-2017 09:20 AM

I just received my DX20 back from Spektrum and flew my KingCat yesterday with no problems whatsoever. Like the voice commands

Mike Haddox 05-30-2017 03:12 PM

My 12X just keeps on ticking.

Now the new DC-24 just played FM 101 while I was putting together my Morava, :-)))))

Well since you're the dealer for Jeti that shouldn't be something you should be shouting about. You buy them at dealer cost, use them, and then sell them for more?
