TJT 3000 eagle turbine value?

I am trying to help a former club members daughter sell his RC stuff. He has a 3000 eagle. Wondering what a fair value would be.http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=2205013

Well, from the looks of it I'd say it's missing a bunch of major important components and doesn't run.

The company that made it is out of business and I doubt anyone works on them let alone can find any parts for it if there's internal damage.

Tell her to keep it and let her kids play with it.

I'm just being frank with you, not being a jerk.

Wildvortex 03-12-2017 06:16 AM

Could you tell me what might be missing? I have a box full of stuff and she has even more there.

GSR 03-12-2017 06:25 AM

That is an Early TJT eagle-They were made in Australia and had a couple of good design features unfortunatly none of the core components would be useable in any other engines. They were well made engines, just never took off. You are missing the intake cowl, starter assembly, tail cone, ECU, fuel pump and gas/fuel valves-really the only value it has would be a curio or teaching aide Scotty

There are some TJTs owners out there that will buy the engine for parts if it is incomplete, others may buy it for the hot components to make their own turbine from that, I've seen some P 80 turbines selling for $500.

I got one, there is another owner in MelbourAustralia, he may be interested in buying it for sure.

I know she would be happy getting $300 for it. Should I list it at that?

You can list it for pretty much anything,,folks are just being honest and letting you know its value is just about worthless, sorry, thats just the truth

CARS II 03-12-2017 03:04 PM

$300, it will sell fast, most guys that own one of these are from outside the US I think.

Do $500, but do not go below $300, as is, shipping included is best.

Post at least six pictures, we can tell you what's missing and you can look around to see if you have the missing parts.

Take one very good picture of the compressor and one of the turbine wheel, front and back.

I have the starting instructions also very important is the GSU, it looks like a silicone plate with microchips and it's shrink wrapped in clear with a phone cable that plugs into the FEDEC, that runs the turbine, take a picture of that also.

A few videos on YouTube, mine is the one at night.

CARS II 03-12-2017 03:23 PM

Send me the pictures, I have guy that is interested to get it if you have all the parts.

[email protected]

Tks.

Wildvortex 03-12-2017 04:06 PM

Ok CARS I will see what I have that does not go to the other turbine. Hopefully it will be easy to decipher as the other one seems to be all in the one box. I will try and go through it all tomorrow and get you some pictures. Pictures of the missing items would be best that way I can send them to her and she can bill for them. His shop is large and full.

CARS II 03-12-2017 04:12 PM

Ok, Tks.

I will post my findings on this turbine for those interested to know how it or if it runs.

Wildvortex 03-13-2017 04:30 AM

It is difficult to say when CAR will have that information. I have some stuff with me the rest would be at a deceased member's and believe me he has alot of stuff and it is scattered between 2 large buildings. This guy had been flying and collecting ever since RC came out.

Woketman 03-13-2017 08:28 AM

As a former USA rep for Turbo Jet Technologies, I gotta agree with those who say it is not worth much. It, as previously stated, looks rather incomplete. Sure, if someone needs some parts they might cough up some cash, but who knows. You might get lucky, worth a try.

I enjoyed flying these engines. A darn shame they disappeared.......

CARS II 03-13-2017 08:35 AM

Mine still running strong, only six hours.

CARS II 03-13-2017 08:38 AM

Question for you.

Where the 3000s 27 lbs thrust engines from the very beginning?

Tks.

Woketman 03-13-2017 08:45 AM

As I recall, yes. Then later evolved to 32 lbs IIRC.

CARS II 03-13-2017 09:39 AM

Thank you for the answer Woketman.

Deleted my questions as they have already been answered.

Woketman 03-13-2017 09:45 AM

I am a bit hazy on the dates, but I flew TJTs from about 2001 thru May 2003. I know because I was then heavily caught up in NASA's Return To Flight (RTF) in the Post Columbia accident recovery and, as such, no longer had the time to fly a lot. Besides, I never sold engines, just flew the urine out of them as demos at events. I think that by 2007, TJT had dissolved......

CARS II 03-13-2017 10:15 AM

I see, thank you for the info, very much appreciated.
