Is there any news as to when or if Powerbox will bring the Weatronics Bat60 back to the market?

After reading the beating that Gaspar is taking over the Merlin M70 why would Powerbox want to put any date at all out, I sure would not, no way! LOL

The most active thread on the BAT 60 here before and since the Weatronic demise was

Me too but I'm not so hopeful. Fortunately, my BAT 60 is working just fine as is, other than the battery going dead every few weeks if not recharged.

I believe that PB felt they could not take on the perceived liability issues from what they stated were design problems in the BAT transmitters which is why the whole thing came to a sudden halt to give PB legal separation from liability. They have publicly stated that they will make a Wea compatible Tx, so it seems they will never take on any responsibility for the BAT Tx. They said the new tx will be available for sale in Autumn 2018, though other Euro radio manufacturers such as Multiplex and Jeti have solid history of going on sale months if not years after their initial claims, so I wouldn't hold Powerbox to that date! Do bear in mind that Powerbox has no experience of making Tx so it would only be fair to give them plenty of time to get the job done.

If we could just mash a Horus brain into the quality of the BAT 60 would be great. Or as I think Harry said before Wea should have just adopted open source. I am convinced the kernel of open source was the persons who tried to purchase the rights to the Profi 4000 but Airtronics would not sell.

What made the BAT series so truly exceptional was the intuitive programming ergonomics/ graphic interface.
This was light year ahead of any open source TX OS I have seen so far.
Unfortunately the Linux core was never optimized for the OS and the screen was a bit slow.

I ended up selling my BAT 60, but still flying with the DV4. I bought a backup 12FG for it in case mine goes down. Hoping to make the switch to PB Weatronics in 2018. If not I guess it will be JETI.

As much as I like the flexibility of our admitted boutique radios, it is hard to ignore the reputation and apparent market staying potential of Jeti. I think even Harry C who was my Profi 4000 mentor moved to Jeti. If I were currently planning to buy a new radio system it would probably be Jeti.

According to the latest Powerbox newsletter, the new transmitter release is getting close.

No firm date but watch the PB website, perhaps it will be timed for Jet Power ?

Having used PowerBox devices for many years I am sure it will be of the highest quality and well worth waiting for.

Not close, just coming. It's not going to be this year. I have seen the Tx and it looks good, but everyone needs patience. The news release was just to remind people, there are lots of people happy with their existing radios, but have an eye on the future.
lots of thought has gone into the ergonomics on the Tx, stick and switch positions. 2018 is most likely the year

3X the range of a BAT60??? FPV will love this one;)
I still feel some resentment about killing the BAT and end of support for the great pre BAT receivers.
And there is the "thing" about spektrum PB recalls.
However, I will continue to have an open mind and hope they get FCC approval in time to matter.
I hope we get alpha and beta test results published.
And they keep the multiplex/weatronic understated appearance vs others jute box facades.

I seem to recall that latest thinking is to keep compatibility with current with Weatronics receivers in the field.
It will be a big step back if they don't do

hoping they add the throttle pull past idle for things like brakes. I almost bought the BAT before they went under.

Last year Emmerich assured me that the new PB transmitter will be compatible with all previous Weatronic receivers.

As as for range, the previous Weatronic rf. system already had far greater range than every other radio system on the market ( I believe Oli,s report confirmed that) so perhaps that is what was being referred to.

After 6 years with Weatronic rf. components on my 12x transmitters I can confirm an incredibly robust link, as verified by the telemetry data, particularly when using patch antennae as I do on the Gizmo receivers.

I may be seeing ED at Weston Park on Friday for an update on progress, if so anything for public consumption will be posted here. I am near the top of the list for one of the first transmitters so I will bring as much reporting as possible ASAP.

I'm glad to hear that. This last Friday, I logged the longest distance out, at .66 of a mile on one side, and by the time turned on the other end, had traveled, 1.2 mile, end to end.... and with 90% signal strength still holding at those ranges with the patch antennas. I really don't want to give that signal strength up, if I don't have to.

Glad to hear you are at least somewhat in the loop. I totally understand the need for confidentially in test phases. A report of a glitch to be worked out spreads like wildfire as a fatal flaw now that we have near instant global communication. It would have been nice to keep the BAT60 going but then no one kept the Profi 4000 going either. Providing compatibility with existing Wea receivers is a big deal indeed.
I plan to stay tuned.
