FenderBean 09-05-2017 04:17 PM

I'm not sure why you had to pay taxes this was not a new purchase you just sent the item in for service?

RCISFUN 09-05-2017 04:34 PM

Pete,
How did you handle Jet Central service when you shipped your turbine back?

Sounds like you need a P.O. box in Buffalo NY...

HI, I have a P.O. in Buffalo, but I pay my taxes, I do not like paying taxes in 2 countries.
Rcpete
PS, I have eleven JC turbines and am very happy with the service.

RC_MAN 09-05-2017 05:58 PM

So how is it different if you ship to Mexico?

dubd 09-05-2017 06:01 PM

Regardless of whether its from Europe or not, those prices are crazy for bearing service.

luv2flyrc 09-05-2017 07:09 PM

Why did it need bearings at 26 hours??? Behotec is supposed to go 50 hours before bearing service, that's one of the reason's I bought one.

LGM Graphix 09-05-2017 10:23 PM

So you spent 837USD on your engine which is $1036 Canadian. HST in Ontario in 13% or roughly $135 Canadian in provincial and Canadian taxes. It was shipped ups which has some of the most ridiculous brokerage fees to Canada ever and you're upset at a Europe turbine manufacture? Yeah it's expensive but provincial/federal tax plus ups rip off fees and PayPal costs are hardly their fault not to mention that you'd pay those same costs with any manufacture outside of Canada. The PayPal fees are a couple percent higher than normal but I don't know what they charge to Europe. Can hardly ***** about Canadian tax ups scam fees and PayPal fees for one manufacture when it would be the same for any manufacture shipping into Canada.

Don't get me started on Behotec...I can tell you it is not different when you are located in Europe....
They are banned among the local group here...

Hi Pete,

Sorry, but can’t accept the word “European” in your thread tittle nor some of the comments placed. Not all dealings with European companies are the same, I’m doing this kind of trade daily and I know that is not correct.

I see that the main problem is that you have been charged with the German VAT Tax. This is not correct, only the shipments inside the European Union are subject to this tax. On top, you have paid the Canadian customs tax and PayPal fee over this German tax…! . You should ask the seller to refund the VAT amount, by law they should do it, it is just a bit of extra paperwork filling the export papers, but worth to do it. What I’m about sure you will not get a refund is for the extra tax you have paid in Canada due this mistake.

Also, the 67EUR of the first line on the invoice are unusual, if the shipment has been done properly from USA, the import fees should be zero or low value, but this depend on the carrier used. My experience is that the few shipments that come with charges (about a 25%), these are between 20 and 40EUR, DHL being the company that charges more.

Just to compare, same service with same parts replaced in similar engine in another “European” company that have a fixed price of labor for repairs, bill the shipments at cost and don’t charge PayPal fee, the repair would have been 283EUR. Shipment to USA and Canada by UPS is 39EUR. Total 322EUR, that at today EUR/USD rate translates to 383,5USD, that is what a US costumer would have paid.
If Canada tax is 13% as commented above, then the total including tax would have been 364USD .

So, please, take in to account that in Europe there are 28 different countries and several different turbine makers, don’t take a sample for the whole .

Finally a recommendation for all readers, please, before you ship ANYTHING to Europe, please contact first the receiver to agree in the way that should be shipped and what paperwork should be filled in your side. Dropping a damaged engine in a box and shipping with a insured value like new will cause an irresistible attraction on the customs officials that will try to collect taxes for the full engine amount as new, and for the receiver to demonstrate that the engine is not new and is used and damaged, the package will require a physical inspection, that will cost time (sometimes weeks), paperwork and money.

30 eu worth of kerosene line is interesting... reminds me of my neighbour charging us 60eu for 2m of electric cable for an electric gate repair :D

erbroens 09-06-2017 01:50 AM

Last service in my jetcat turbine was fixing the starter bendix and o-ring replacement. Very reasonable costs (30 cents for the o-ring) and 1 hour of fun disassembling and fixing my own hobby stuff.

was gonna say the same, $800+ for a bearing.....swish swish bishhhhh

siclick33 09-06-2017 03:41 AM

Is that 5 hours of labour for a bearing change?

f106jax 09-06-2017 04:37 AM

Pete,
The bearings on my 220 failed after just 7 flights, apx. 110 minutes of run time. It's at Behotec now for repair but they're still on their national holiday.

Len Todd 09-06-2017 04:57 AM

My P-140rxi's igniter failed. Was back here in ~10 days and cost <$400 USD and I was crying about that. Guess I was lucky.

Ceeray 09-06-2017 06:09 AM

And I will not buy a turbine from outside Europe anymore.. too much hassle with eager Customs agents delaying shipment and then waiting 2 months for repair.

Sticking to Jets Munt from now on. Crashed engine repairs for VT80 turbine below 300€ shipped. I am very satisfied with their products and contact/help.

I am reminded of people who spend tens of thousands of dollars on high priced sports cars and then complain about the high cost of maintenance.

Out of line..........jets don't have a high cost of maintenance.

gunradd 09-06-2017 07:45 AM

Man I love keeping stuff in the USA! No need to leave the country with KT.

How is this situation even remotely similar?

LimitDwn 09-06-2017 10:31 AM

Pete, Any reason why you did not look into Ultimate Jets down in Texas? They are a full service facility for Behotec Turbines. I had a 220 that needed to starter replaced, because of something that I did. They were very responsive and I had the turbine back to me in just over a week. They even returned my phone calls when I left a message, How may places sill do that?
The following is right from there web site:

I contacted Ultimate Jets (pre Harvey) which is where I bought the turbine, and was told that they do not have a working balancer. No timetable was provided for when they may have a balancer. They offered to disassemble my turbine to determine the problem and then send it back to Behotec for repair. I sent it directly to Behotec.

bluelevel 09-06-2017 11:25 AM

Guys, unfortunately the invoice is correct and Behotec has to charge 19% German VAT. You are right that VAT does NOT apply when goods are shipped outside the European Union, but in this case there was a service provided and parts replaced. The German tax law states that in this case VAT has to be charged for labor and parts, because this service was provided in Germany.

However, I agree with you that 5 hours of labor seem to be a bit much for replacing a starter motor and 2 bearings.

Thomas
