Vt80 help

Hi
i have just purchased and flown a new vt80bl. Very happy with it apart from a small issue. When it starts and goes across the fuel ramp the starter motor is still trying to engage. The revs are too high for it and sometimes it stalls sometimes it powers through and starts. Can any one tell me what setting I need to stop it engaging?

If its new, then do nothing else but send it back for repair. Bendix might be too tight.

Just email Gaspar/Xicoy and get the answer direct from the manufacturer. He will tell you if he recommends a setting change or a hardware replacement.

Spoke to vendor. Its normal I am told. I also wonder I upper the 6v to ignitor to 6.2 is this ok is there a max?

I think 6.7 V is the max setting before the igniter gets damaged. Mine starts much better with 6.5 than 6.2 especially in cold weather.
TP.

That's good to know. Its freezing here at minute well about -2c I suppose that's reasonable

yes, when its cold it ramps slowly, make sure to use fresh battery when its cold charged to 4.1, not 4.2 unless you kept the battery indoors..

When you do a cold weather start, its much harder to ramp the fuel up and keep the heat into a kero start. if it stagnates at 70 degrees, then up the igniter by .2 I use 6.4 to start. also you can slow the fuel ramp in gaspar's ecu. thats good when its very hot, or very cold
