Dick Spreadbury's "Classic Jets" Held the last meeting of 2017 today at Abingdon, UK
As always superbly organised, with plenty of food and hot drinks, the weather wasnt the best however, still the pilots braved the chilly weather, and put in a good number of flights between the showers. Dave Wishere brought along his CARF Mephisto although a rain shower curtailed his first flight of the day, it looked very smooth and locked in, I am sure Dave will comment as required. As always a few photographs. Alistair Powers. |
That bloody Mephisto just cost me a lot of money ;)

I’m not sure we consider the huge effort required to set up an event like this, let alone in terrible conditions like we had today. I really struggled to get motivated today...obviously I have no sympathy for Birdy since he bullied me into flying the Mephisto I got good data on the set up, I have adjusted my expo figures based on today and will play with the gyro settings more. It handled rough air really well though.
Was good to get a couple of maiden flights done ( though I thought they might have waited for better weather, sometimes the use of a runway is too much of a game changer) Lewis’s Joker flew on rails once the gyro was activated. Dave F’s Hunter coped ok with the conditions and will be great once the igyro in the PB Mercury is set up. Good to see everyone and thanks to all Dick’s Merry men for organising a good day-thanks for the pics AP Roll on March 2018 |

Watching it fly was the highlight Dave. Was blowing a gale so well done. Nice pics as always Alistair.

Although Dave's MyFistiHoe is great and everything - seeing this many pictures of him and his plane is burning my eyes. Anyone get any pictures of anything else ;)
PS - Thanks Dick and team for all the hard work. Especially in the crappy weather! |

Thanks Alistair! Didn't think my comedy ribbing of Dave would result in a load of piccies of my own toy but it's very much appreciated!

Did you manage to get any of my Avanti XS?

Dom,great movies as always, thanks for posting.

Not sure they are 'great' actually Alistair. Terrible weather. I had to tweak everything in post editing including noise reduction to get them half decent. Have brought a Sennheiser mic with a wind muffler for next time...because it is always windy at CJ it seems. See you soon !
|
It looked calm and dry in the video...completely different to what I remember! I am amazed how solid it looked considering the squall coming through at the time-you can't even see the rain falling!
Will have to get some more video now I have some more flights on it...when its warm! |
