Gear Door sequencer, Jeti and Powerbox Mercury

Hi,

Can Anyone direct me to the best gear door sequencer I can buy to control five gear doors, all servo operated. I am using a Powerbox Mercury with a Jeti radio, however I need 19 channels for my model. If I use a sequencer, that would eliminate five connections to the Mercury. If I use say a 10 channel receiver for the mercury, could I connect any servos direct from the receiver?

Thanks in advance

Before hooking the servo directly to the receiver, verified how amp the receiver get from the PB mercury, I know on the Jeti CB it’s a Nono because the receiver receive a very low Mamp on those ports

You don't need a 10 channel receiver. The rcvr is just for signal. You could honestly just use a 2 channel rcvr and everything works. Everything would be programmed thru the powerbox and plugged into the powerbox.

Thanks Daniel,

Flycarden, I know that, my problem is that the powerbox has 15 outlets and I need 19, which is why I need to remove the gear door servos from the powerbox and control then through an external sequencer, or directly from the receiver.

flycarden 01-22-2018 10:14 AM

You can do that with an external sequencer. I'll be using the down and locked gear with my powerbox and not using the powerbox door sequencers.

flycarden 01-22-2018 10:22 AM

But you do everything thru the powerbox.

thanks for that, do you know of a good quality sequencer that can handle five doors, all servo operated?

flycarden 01-22-2018 10:27 AM

Sorry but I don't.

kkn 01-22-2018 10:28 AM

OK, thanks anyway,

regards

Don't have much to compare it to, but I've used the Xicoy sequencer on my last two builds and been happy with the results and capabilities. It integrates failsafe and telemetry as well.

How are the 19 channels used? 4 flaps, just buy a JR matchbox

kkn 01-22-2018 11:40 AM

Hi Dave, have the following:

throttle x 1
elevators x 2
rudder x 1
ailerons x 2
flaps x 2
nose wheel steering x 1
gear x 1
lighting x 2
smoke pump x 1
brake x 1
gear doors x 5

three gear doors close after retraction, two remain open.

kkn 01-22-2018 11:41 AM

thanks Auburn, will check it out. regards

Dave,

might be an idea to use two multi boxes on the two groups of gear doors, that would reduce the inputs needed from 5 to 2. Thanks

causeitflies 01-22-2018 01:01 PM

You can use the Rx for the doors as long as you make sure it gets the proper power supply. That's how I would do it, all in the radio.

Not sure how the gear and brakes are operated (air or electric), but the GS-200 Landing Gear Controller and Sequencer from Electron will control all your landing gear needs. it has the ability to control 8 gear doors.

Hi Robert, have just seen it. In fact I am using Electron gear, so I think it is the solution. Thanks to all that gave their advise.

Why do you need separate output for each gear dor? What about to divide doors for two groups, one to be closed after retraction, second one to stay open. Servos inside group are connecting via “Y” cable.
So, you can use the external door sequencer and just require one output from powerbox for that (i’m using JetTronics sequencer JETTRONIC FLEXIBLE GEAR DOOR SEQUENCER)

In that better to use PowerBox Royal with 20 outputs.

HI Sergey,

I meant multi boxes not powerboxes, the reason being that the door servos are facing each other and thus one of the pair always needs to be reversed, so a y lead cannot be used

OK, in these case you can use programmable servos and just reverse some of them, ore use Futaba MSA-10 SX Synchronizer, it’s can synchronize 2 servos for each site, totally 4

Why so complicated? Just change the way you connect Central Box/PowerBox and receivers.
With CB200 and receivers we can easily hook up more than 15 servos.

You have 24 channels with Jeti radio system, use them.

1) change 2nd receiver to something like R7-9-12
2) connect only signal wire from SAT2 CB200 port to the 2nd Rx (Disconnect Power, pos. and neg.)
3) connect power ONLY (disconnect signal wire) from any of the servo ports (15 on CB200) to the any open port on R7-12
4) assign channels to any CB200 and receiver ports

This way power for 2nd Rx and servos connected to it is coming from CB200 stabilized and telemetry (Signal wire)
Signal is coming from CB200 SAT 2 port, Power from port 15 (+/- wire)

If you connect servos directly to the receiver without providing power from CB200 you WILL Burn out the power supply on SAT port.

A diagram may be helpful.
kkn if you are using Electrons and already have the G200 controller you are set. If you don't have the controller I would use the sequencer in the radio.

kkn 01-23-2018 10:51 AM

Thanks for all the input from you guys, problem solved, bought the Electron GS 200 controller, and this should leave me all the channels I need on the mercury.

thanks again and regards
