Guinness Record improved
 

Hi everybody,

I just want to share with you that my improved turbine speed record has been veryfied by the Guinness Book of Reords.
The record flight was performed August 23 at the Airfield Rothenburg/ Oberlauitz in Germany.
I was able to increase from 706.97 Km/h to 749.221 Km/H.
I want to say thank you to my great team. You guys where great and a good support throughout those three days.
The difference between 752 and 749km/h is the tolerance of the measuring equipment.

The last picture shows both planes. The left one is the "trainer" the right one the record plane. They have differences in material painting and turbine.

The first video shows the record flight.

The second video shows a fun flight after the record with the "trainer".

The onboard video was recorded with the "trainer" earlier last year but at the same airfield.

The Typhoon is currently the fast fastest electric powered plane with around 600 Km/h.
It is owned by Christian Hidde (he was my assistant during my flights) and Thomas Schmidt.
It is powered by a modified Kontronik motor and 17 lipo cells.
Unfortunately there is no video uploaded yet.
They did some training flights between my attempts.

Nice, bit quick for most of us. For it to be judged fairly against the previous record i believe you should be able to take off and land conventionally. ie: with wheels.

.....no retracts and wheels....

Awesome! You must have pretty good eyesight to maintain orientation at that speed. Do you use any type of gyro to smooth things out?

simple i would say only one word. That is AMAZING :D

There are more negative comments here than positive. You guys need to look at what you’ve achieved in the hobby and see if it compares. The record was highest turbine speed, period.
Hats off to you VMAX. Incredible effort, engineering and skill. Great to see.

For me Shui holds the record of the fastest MODEL .
Vmax holds the record of the fastest flying remote controlled turbine.... and that is if military rc turbine powered targets not flying faster.

I shouldn’t be surprised by the negativity but dang. This dude is doing cool stuff. You guys do realize that it is Guinness. It’s not like FAI with set categories. Shui record I believe still stands as the fastest “conventional turbine aircraft.” This is just the fastest turbine aircraft. This dude flew at 465mph. That’s freaking awesome. I hope he gets it even faster so someday we can stop hearing about how diynamic soaring is the fastest.

Hey Vmax that is fantastic. Do you know how far away from yourself that you are turning (slant range) and how many Gs you are pulling?

Congratulations. I remember seeing an identical looking kit, if not this one, for sale at jetpower at a stand that always outside the main tent. This was around 2007 and 2008. They also had a huge (1/4 maybe ) F-16 kit for sale. Can’t remember the name of the vendor.

Not surprised to see so many negative comments. Most guys, whether they fly turbines or not, are scared at 150mph much less anything over 200mph. That's why we see so many models now with no bypasses, keeps them draggy and the speed down...seems it's starting to be the norm to fly draggy slow jets now a days. But there's still a few of us that like to push it past 200 :cool:

I think it's pretty amazing, and takes a lot of thought in how the model is built to withstand those speeds. I'd be worried about control surface flutter the most.

I can not see why even compare to the shui record? Thats way slower even if he carries a barbie doll. There are lot's of planes going that speeds, Vmax how ever is faster by far and that in a proper speedtrap.

Only thing missing now is the glider guys chiming in.... I wonder why they did not show up and test the speed trap too? haha.....

Our models are scale reproduction of a man-carrying aircraft = take off and land conventionally+with cockpit representation.
If this is not accepted,
then lets hope Northrop Grumman wont decide to attend Guinness Records with there RC plane.

Cruising speed of 1200km/h = 745mph = Mach 0.9+ (high subsonic)

Thats cool! congrats on the new record. I quite knew what is about flying a delta wing thing...LOL I am amazed also with the speeds the electric hotliners and the slope soarers had achieved in this past years. It only adds up. ;)

If they fly it radio controlled as in a human working the sticks while looking at the plane for sure.... they are faster.

Else if we count the delivery flight my hobbyking foamy has gone over 1000kph in the jumbo jet..... haha

Just did a quick check and I think the slope soarers are now at 519 MPH so quicker than the turbine.. but no doubt people will say this is not a proper model because it does not have an engine!

Engine doesn't matter. It doesn't have cockpit, pilot or wheels. :rolleyes:

+1 totally agree. Well done. Good to see someone willing to keep on challenging there own record to better there record speed. Wish you all the best in future breaking records. Would be good to get some statistics on G force on aircraft and electronics used. I like to read about the details about aircraft unless off course you prefer to keep these details confidential.
