BVM E-Brake V-2 any good?
I am new to jets and wondering the best way to set up my brakes.
Conventional with servo, valve and tank or go electrical valve. I also see the bvm brake may work. Whats your thoughts. I currently have the Intairco 3.5" Main Wheel Set w/Brakes on a ziroli panther. |
I have tried several Air Brake valves including electronic and mechanical types. I wound up using an Ultra Precision 6. It is the only one that gave me reasonable proportional braking.

It came in my Bandit. I love it. The only thing is you need a Very Strong servo as recommended and the air line should be the thinner BVM tubing. It does what it is supposed to do and there is no need for an air tank. Let me add that you need a very strong frame around it as the compression is very hard.

The distance from the BVM brake valve to the brakes need to be AS. SHORT. AS. POSSIBLE.
I bought one to use in BV's big 86 and I could not place it close enough to make it work reliably. But the concept is WAY cool. |
I had never even seen that before. That's a really smart idea if there is enough volume in the cylinder. It's got to be better than the smooth stop was.
I've always had the best success with the UP6 valve myself but this looks like a pretty cool idea! |
Jet model products brake valve works great. I use it with an independent xtra small Robart air tank. Easy to fit that little tank in anywhere

I loved the e-brake in my bandit. Prolly best brakes ever in a jet for me, meaning strong enough to get the job done without locking up the wheels. Very proportional. No lubing of the o rings so less dirt and grime.
I would think its limited in the size (volume) of wheel it can be effective on due to its own volume. As others have said, keep tubing length from cylinder to wheels as short as possible and equal length after the T. High torque servo per instructions and the frame that is available from BVM. JS |
Thanks for the feedback guys. I think because this is my first jet I will try the UP 6 first because it looks simple to set up. I really don't know how much extra room I will have in the airframe.
Thanks again |
Yes, the UP-6 valve works great and is one of the cheaper ones.
