New carbon fiber 3D laser printing developments

I have recently published an article in my technical blog about glass and nano carbon fiber reinforced resins and SLA printing.
I am now able to laser print high carbon content parts with a very high fiber ratio and isotropic property thanks to magnetic field polarization.
The first commercial parts are coming out of our production line as we speak. We will soon be able to 3D print structural carbon fibre composite landing gear struts, brackets, clips...
Enjoy the blog!

Holy carbon sheet that's cool!

In your blog you mention that the magnetic field can be switched between layers. Could the field be moved during a layer so as to get different "grain" directions in different areas of the part?

Yes, but the Stratsys I am using for this purpose does not offer control on the laser path within one layer. As a consequence, I do not know how the laser beam creates the layer.

Oli,
You mentioned carbon fiber gear struts. Are the struts strong enough for structural parts or just decorative parts?

Nice, carbon fiber is my drink of choice...

I would also like to know if the printed carbon parts can be used as structural pieces, or only as decorative parts. In addition, how is the weight of the printed carbon parts as opposed to traditionally manufactured carbon fiber parts?

The first tests show a tensile strength of 15,000 PSI in the fiber direction and 10,000 PSI in anisotropic mode.
It all depends what your needs are for your component.

See my post above.
Material density is 1.2.
