It looks great. What size engine do you think. I love that T-one is doing different sized models instead of just giant sized

Could you post a link to the Pacific roc Facebook page please? The one on your site doesn’t work for me

Recommended engine is a K160

sirrom 01-10-2019 09:45 AM

Seriously!?

So the first post in this thread says this weighs approx 18lbs with gear and pipe. Another 2 for turbine, and possibly another 8-10 with servos and fuel onboard. So total weight of about 30 pounds. So it wouldn't fly on a k120?

Yes, It will fly with a K120

K160 With all ordinance (Most Drag)
K120 Without

Thanks for the reply. I have a JC 160 so should be perfect

Digital Pilot 01-10-2019 11:53 AM

I should have my Yak130 soon and will be doing an build manual on it as well. The plan is to use a K160.

Contrary to popular belief, you do not need a 1:1 or more power to weight ratio to fly jets. I used a K120 to maiden the T-One 1/4.75 Hawk 100 that had the tip missiles, under wing missiles and drop tanks. The Hawk flew fantastic as I'm sure the Yak will fly just as good. We have customers flying the T-1 28-31lbs flying weight with K-100 off grass fields. I'm sure you will find many others flying less than a 1:1 PTWR.

Dirk,
I am not arguing that you need 1:1 to fly the jets..I have a 20 pound bobcat that flew well on a 12 pound turbine. I asked the question because DigitalPilot recommended a K160 for this jet which seemed a bit much. He clarified that with all the armament that you 'need' a K160. I love the looks of this jet and am seriously considering it once I see a few fly, but just wanted the clarification on what he recommended.

Pat we should have one at Florida jets this year. Should have the new F22 also at Fljets. PacificRcJets will be showing off lots of great new planes this year! Its going to be fun!

Digital Pilot 01-11-2019 06:41 AM

Sorry if I caused any confusion guys. The need for the K160 was mainly due to the large amount of stores that hang from this bird. They are big, bulky and draggy thus the need for the bigger engine to keep the performance to par.

Thanks all
