Composite Jet finish care and feeding

Waiting on my first composite air frame and since I have plenty of time to wait,I had a few questions.
1. What do you guys use to clean/polish/protect the paint and finish.
2. Is there a certain procedure or type of drill-bit/dremel attachment that you guys use to cut the surface when required to avoid any chipping or cracking. In my experience depending on the fiberglass work some can be fragile and prone to chipping.
3. What do you guys use to protect areas such as ventral strakes, underside or wingtips etc from damage ( it is a sport jet so scale fidelity is a non issue). Bvm has some little CF triangles I assume you just glue on but didn't know if there was a better option.
4. Finally; I use Hysol, and 30 min epoxy for my builds up to now unless there is something better.

Thanks for all the help
Matt

Hi Matt,

Regarding question 1 - for a glossy sport jet - after flying at the field, you may notice some bugs or dirt over wheel areas etc. It's handy to have a packet of baby wipes and a waterless wash spray bottle to hand to do a quick clean down before heading home. Something like this:

At home then you can polish/wax the paint like you would your car, this can be made easier with something like this quik detailer:

Question 2 - I like dremel diamond cut wheel for long straight lines, or else BVM carbide cutters for other shapes or stainless steel - a lot of guys recommended to me also.

Question 3 - nothing to add on top of the list you already have

Question 4 - I do the same
Just my 2 c..

Thanks for the input, have all that stuff in my car cleaning cart, that makes it easy. I am going to order some of those carbide cutters from BVM

When using the carbide bits, hold the bit at an angle to the surface otherwise it will bite and jump!
