Whats this to do with downwind turns?

Nothing unusual in getting a strong tailwind from a jetstream.

We used to hold the record with a BA VC10 cruising at Mach .825 true.set in 1979.

There were some VERY strong jetstreams too, on the TYO to HKG route , too.

absolutely nothing at all you know, and I know. I have been on a few very quick west east crossings to too, I am amazed you are the one who has bitten.

Only because I was a bit sad to see the Transatlantic record broken after all these years as I was flying VC10s which set the record
in 1979 when the record was set.

Perhaps its game on again this weekend when another powerful jet is in place.

Perhaps Virgin will have a go with a 350, cant have BA holding both subsonic and supersonic records. ( 2 59) can they !!
