Two Turbines into one exhaust

Question, has anyone run two turbines into one exhaust?

Basically a bifurcated pipe in reverse, obviously with a larger outlet diameter,

This is for a large potential project where as you have the additional safety of a twin setup yet in a model with a single exhaust.

Yes , I’m not sure what model it was but lots of guys know this jet from Kentucky jets 2018 and 2019 , same person has the twin joined rebels pro together to one very interested jet

I don't think I've seen that done before, but you might want to checkout how the big 1:3 scale F-104 from Airworld setup was done and maybe go that route if your model is big enough.

I think RCPete did a Havoc

RC Pete had the twin into one pipe and I have seen somewhere guys in Europe do the same with some huge models.

Thanks for the replies, yes I have seen the two exhaust setup on the big 104's.

Just wondering if you could port both exhausts into the same exit, not two separate ones.

This is Pete's Havoc with two into one. I'm sure he has some pics of the install somewhere.

Unless you can guarantee both turbines throttle exactly the same time I think you will have issues with the lead turbine ‘sucking’ on the slower one and that’s if the turbulence didn’t make a horrible sound.
I think you would get more thrust out of the split exit set up too.

Yep that is exactly what I was worried about, basically a pressure differential and not sure where it could affect flows.

Some years back before we had the bigger motors there was a big F86 in Europe set up with two motors feeding into one big pipe.

I know there are pictures on the internet somewhere but i couldn't find them of this 1/4 scale F16 with 4 G Booster 160 turbines down a single tailpipe.

Nice find Jeremy!

Think you will find the pipe was divided into 4

In the second video you can see right down the tailpipe. Looks like one giant pipe to me. I know I saw pictures of it once too and I am certain all 4 engines just blew down one giant cavernous pipe.

Here are some pictures of rcpetes havoc with a reverse bifurcated pipe.

I’ll see if I can find the article in an old JetPower on the F-16, I still thought the big pipe was divided.
Pete’s Havoc with the long inlet joining tubes I can see how that worked. So I guess it goes back to the OP and whether he has the big fat fuselage space to do the same.

Halcyon66 10-29-2020 12:10 PM

Yep pretty cavernous space in the fuse so that is not the issue.

As said this a potential project, I have two on the cards as a next build project both with their quirks not sure which way I will go yet.

Thanks for the input.

Regards,
